Re George 247

i am a very infrequent visitor to the forums, as i cannot stand all the negativity that people have within them, but i feel that i must reply to an earlier post by George where he said he would not invite friends over because of the state of the course.

i would encourage youto invite your friends over to the area - and as a gesture of goodwill, they can stay in our villa free of charge (just cover Roy's cleaning costs and a contribution as they see fit for electricity use etc), and i am sure that they will love the whole experience.

Ok the course may not be perfect, but every time we (and our friends and family) go we all have a wonderful time and you have to accept that you are not paying for the golf, but it is still a challenge for golfers of all abilities. People should have a glass half full rather than half empty approach, and the resort and the wider area has so much to offer for the whole family that it is a shame that all owners are not encouraging as many friends and family to use the area so they can see the good points, and come back time and time again.

Just a few of the highlights of the area that we have experienced (since we bought in mid 2010) that i am sure your friends would  also enjoy:

Beautiful cities of Murcia and Cartegena within 30 minutes drive. The Murcia festival is something to behold (late August i think?)

numerous beaches on the mar menor, and the Lo Pagan natural mud baths

boat trips, and ability to do lots of water sports

traditionally spanish village of Corvera to walk into and have beautiful tapas in the cool of the evening. The celebration at Easter is exceptional, and something you would never experience in the UK.

zoo and water park

horse riding with jaun and his wonderful family just outside the village - one to one tuition at 20 euro/hr

just going for a drive in any direction (with no plans) and relaxing as the spanish do and going with the flow.

golf on the resort - enjoy a cool beer at the 5th/12th at Mikel's as there will be no one pressurising you on the course

The Spanish economy is not in great shape as we all know, and has more pressing problems that the completion of Corvera i guess, but we all just need to be patient, and it will evolve gradually - the airport opening will be a big bonus that will bring people to the area.

i for one cannot wait to get out there in August, having just come back in mid June.

Well said  Murphlif. We share your views completely especially half full. I know the course needs work but you are right to remind people that currently it is free. Therefore comparisons with club course are inapproriate for now. The total cost for us going over to corvera and havng three rounds of golf is still less than staying playing three rounds of golf and then there's the sun and chilling.

Yes agreed we love our visits to Corvera and looking forward to going in a couple of weeks. Shame clubhouse isnt open yet but still being fitted out, but looks fantastic. Friends and family we have taken love the place and enjoy the traditionally spanish area and all it has to offer.

 Well said Murphlif,

My glass is so full up to the brim that I bought property in Corvera because it is in such a wonderful area of the world, compared to the various other options that were available to me.

Everything that you said about the area is correct and that is why I can’t wait to go back there in a few months time. Hopefully the course has improved in the nearly 3 months since I was last there.

Thank you for your gesture of goodwill, that is just the sort of positivity that I am looking for from all, and my aim is the same on the private forum. Are you a member of that?

However, I am looking for positivity from all and that includes Corvera Golf and Country Club, CGCC, and that is what the post was actually about, i.e. CGCC, the work that they are supposed to do on the golf course and the new owners, not anything else. I have already waited 7 years, and I think we all should expect higher standards and not be so patient. I will do anything that I think will make a positive difference to CGCC.

Hi All, Does anyone have any news on the clubhouse such as; Are there people still working on it ? Are there any suggestions for an opening date ? Has there been any discussions about who will run it when it opens ?

Away from the Clubhouse, Is the Golf Course itself still being maintained ? It would be interesting to read a posting from anyone who has played the course recently ?

 Hi Simon,

It would be interesting to hear your thoughts on specific aspects of the condition of the course the last time you played on it.

Don't think Simon has ever been at corvera asks the same questions every time he posts. He has been invited to join owners club on numerous occasions and never does. Can only assume he is not an owner

Well, Simon is now the newest member of the open forum, take a look at the bottom of the home page,  but has not yet contacted me to be a member of the Private Corvera one.  So Simon if you are interested in being part of the private forum, please pm me, but I will need proof of ownership.  You are obviously interested  by joining, so perhaps now is the time to put the doubts to rest.

Simon,

Yes, sounds like a good idea.

I have asked for your "feedback" on multiple occaisons, and I am still waiting.

I have passed on the details required for you to send to Anita to join the other forum. I could send them again if you need me to, you only need to ask.

I know.

I will be staying close to Corvera in September and would like to play the course, as a non resident is that possible.

Clubhouse update

We came back a week ago, the building is finished.

Needs a tidy round but still needs fixtures and fitting, etc.

Nothing is open, its going to take several weeks/months to get it open even if someone took on the place tomorrow in my opinion.

I can't see that happening anytime soon as there is just not enough people on sight at anyone time.

This period has been the busiest I have ever seen it but still not enough people to justify opening a restaurant. imo

We were there a few days ago, still no chang just building sand and material left over from the storm.

There are rumours that a few parties are interested in opening the clubhouse but nothing has been finalised.

Until the course is open to the public and there are more warm bodies around it will be difficult to see anyone opening up unless they have a large rent free period.  This maybe one of the sticking points among many. It would be somrthing I would want to negotiate.

Beggars belief really, doesn't it?  Presumably built to prevent legal action re lack of  facilities, but what use is it if it isn't open?

Fingers crossed for everyone who bought there that things happen soon - in time for Christmas/New Year would be nice.

PS Can someone pass the white paint for the elephant please?
