Re George 247
i am a very infrequent visitor to the forums, as i cannot stand all the negativity that people have within them, but i feel that i must reply to an earlier post by George where he said he would not invite friends over because of the state of the course.
i would encourage youto invite your friends over to the area - and as a gesture of goodwill, they can stay in our villa free of charge (just cover Roy's cleaning costs and a contribution as they see fit for electricity use etc), and i am sure that they will love the whole experience.
Ok the course may not be perfect, but every time we (and our friends and family) go we all have a wonderful time and you have to accept that you are not paying for the golf, but it is still a challenge for golfers of all abilities. People should have a glass half full rather than half empty approach, and the resort and the wider area has so much to offer for the whole family that it is a shame that all owners are not encouraging as many friends and family to use the area so they can see the good points, and come back time and time again.
Just a few of the highlights of the area that we have experienced (since we bought in mid 2010) that i am sure your friends would also enjoy:
Beautiful cities of Murcia and Cartegena within 30 minutes drive. The Murcia festival is something to behold (late August i think?)
numerous beaches on the mar menor, and the Lo Pagan natural mud baths
boat trips, and ability to do lots of water sports
traditionally spanish village of Corvera to walk into and have beautiful tapas in the cool of the evening. The celebration at Easter is exceptional, and something you would never experience in the UK.
zoo and water park
horse riding with jaun and his wonderful family just outside the village - one to one tuition at 20 euro/hr
just going for a drive in any direction (with no plans) and relaxing as the spanish do and going with the flow.
golf on the resort - enjoy a cool beer at the 5th/12th at Mikel's as there will be no one pressurising you on the course
The Spanish economy is not in great shape as we all know, and has more pressing problems that the completion of Corvera i guess, but we all just need to be patient, and it will evolve gradually - the airport opening will be a big bonus that will bring people to the area.
i for one cannot wait to get out there in August, having just come back in mid June.
