Hi

I really hope you can help me, my dad has an apartment on the Corvera complex and myself and 3 of my friends are coming on Wednesday 7th September and staying for 4 days ( leaving on Sunday 11th Sept) as none of us particularly want to drive and feel that the cost of renting a car for such a short period would be rather excessive bearing in mind that we are quite happy staying on the site and only walking into the village for shopping etc. therefore I was wondering if anyone either knew of a taxi firm or would be willing to come and collect us and drop us off for a fee. Also does anyone know how much a taxi would usually cost from the airport to Corvera?

I have been to the complex a number of times over the last few years therefore I do understand that most people feel that a car is a necessity when staying at Corvera, but like I said we are 4 girls who just want to relax and chill on the complex for a few days.

Hope someone can help me :-)

Many thanks

Heather

Hi, the airport taxis at San Javier will go to Corvera for approx 55 euros one way, between 4 of you thats not too bad.  There is a local taxi in the village who may then be able to take you back to the airport, they can be contacted through Miguel's, there's a phone number in the bar or Miguel may be able to call them for you and make a booking.  Hope this helps, Christine

Absolutely correct but please make sure that you use a legally licensed taxi otherwise you will not be insured

The fare form the airport is between €60 - €70 depending on the time and number of bags and €55 return by the local company

Thank you for your help!

Also, can I just ask, what is the deal with getting the SPA to deliver your shopping once you have bought it? As im just thinking if we are not going to have a car and we are buying 4 days worth of food (and drink of course) then we may need some help getting it back to the Apartment.

Thanks again!

Heather

You just ask them and they will deliver or if you ask in Leons they can arrange for the taxi to run you back plus the guy that owns it will often do this himself for people

There are alos lots of people around the site that will offer help and if you have somebody looking after the property a service that we offer is that we will get the required shopping before the owner arrives so that it is waiting for them and all we charge is the value of the items

Thanks for your responses - does anyone know how i would go about getting in touch with Chris ( Finishing Touch) ? As i would like to see if he can arrange for a taxi to collect us from the Airport rather than just getting in one that is already at the airport, as i believe these to be more expensive than the local firms!

Many Thanks

Many people don't know that if you do not use an airport taxi or licenced transfer service that you wll not be insured if anything happened you and the driver will be held responisble and this is why I do not offer this service

You cannot get hire & reward insurance in Spain, regardless of what people may tell you and the car must either display an SP plate or taxi licence to be legal

I have been testing an airport transfer company and they have provided an excellent price and service from San Javier www.suntransfers.com fare from San Javier €49 each way and they will do a return.

You can also pay in sterling and by credit card in advance

So as to avoid any confusion on this topic there are hundreds of people, including property management people, using their own cars that offer airport collections often at lower prices than the legal licenced operators

There is no way that they can get insurance for this service and if anything ever happened you are not covered by the car insurance and there are some well published cases, where a person was seriously injured in a crash, left disabled  and were unabe to claim anything

If the car is now displaying an SP plate and the licence attached to the front windscreen it is not legal to carry passengers and they often stop and sieze these vehicles at airport checks

By booking in advance you can save money by guarnteeing the fare and they will be insured

A licenced carrier may be more expensve because they have to pay the overheads of insurance and the vechicle inspections are much more stringent vehicle and operator checks. otherwise it is like using an unlicenced mini cab in the UK
