The following information is not verified but was taken from another forum and I will try to establish tiday if the rumour is true but it has been around for a while

I have been told today that Murcia Furniture Planners have filed for bankruptcy. There is therefore the possible knock-on effect that people with orders may have a problem.

I have no proof of this but completely trust the individual who told me this news. I simply hope that this may save any of you who are contemplating a purchase from them that this may save you potential loss.

This is disappointing for owners who had committed to buying furniture and laid down deposits with this company.

Any company which has displays of furniture on a room by room basis without prices on individual items is in my opinion to be avoided. Also agents directing you to a certain provider because they speak english or giving you a business card with a reference number on it. These are for commission for the person referring you and not discount cards you would be much better just to go in on your own and ask for a discount. I learned this a few years ago when we bought in Roda Golf and forgot my "discount" card.

If someone is marking something down by 30% just for you, you would need to be asking why and from a Scottish man that is quite a statement but I have been around the toon once or twice in my day and care is needed when you are doing this for the first time. Take a bit of time and talk to other owners to get second and third opinions as you will learn a lot.

This is now confirmed that they have filed for administration and will be closed for August but of course this is bankruptcy so please keep your eyes open for details og the creditors meeting

1234 is absolutely right - always pay furniture deposits (or any type of deposit for that matter) by using a credit card.

Guys,

Thanks for your advise.

Luckily I haven't paid any deposits yet but in the process of sorting out snagging issues with Calidona.

Completed in Sept 2009 - not bad - just taken 10 months for snagging issues to be resolved ( I hope).

Final snagging is pending - no doubt only half of the issued would have been resolved..........

Good old Calidona. Bless.

Rav.

10 months to sort out your snagging! Unbelievable.  We completed in June and have a list of 30+ things to get sorted, and we're hoping to move in come September.  Doesn't fill me with much confidence :-(

Sorry, didn't mean to frightrn you. But calidona just don't have the resources to rectify ALL the snagging problems in ONE go. Thinly spread due to cut backs. Hopefully you will have a better result. Good luck.

hi guy's,

the best way to have your snagging done on time is to have Roy & Lorraine on board they are on site most days,we would never have been able to move in on time without their help and persistance, best money we have spent to date.

I had brought a console table from Murcia Furniture on-line and paid for it in full.  We were going to collect it when we visit in August, unfortunately, Murcia Furniture filed for Administration before we could get there.   I rang Murcia Furniture and was told that although they would be closed for the whole of August, if I could arrange for someone to collect it they would be there to meet them.  I rang Roy Howitt who said it would be absolutely no problem to collect and deliver it to my apartment.  He contacted Murcia Furniture for me and arranged pickup - now safely in our apartment.  Once again, huge thanks to Roy!
