Have just come back from a 3 day break and played the course for the first time.I think that after you have played it you will be very happy with the lay out and the greens were in great condition but I would like to say that i was displeased to see far too many pitch marks that had not been repaired by owners! As we are the only ones who can play the course we can not blame societies or green fees we must look after our own course! Given a bit of time i think we will have one of the best courses in the area.On the down side the club house has not moved on since i last went out in september, when will it get finished?

Would like to hear from others who have played the course for thier comments.

Simon M

Hi I played the course a few weeks ago and was slightly disappointed at how easy it was. For a potential championship course it is not tough enough. The greens were superb though, running true and they hold the ball really well. The bunkers were also very good with a great depth of sand.

Hi Jonathon

Haven't played the course yet, Feb I hope but expect that they will allow the fairways and rough to mature before placing any additional bunkers etc to stiffen the test. The Greens and tees are the fundamentals of a course as they are difficult to change once it is being played but the fairways and rough etc can be made easier or harder as time goes on.

If it's as easy as you say then let's hope this is the case.

Hi Simon M - I was told by a representative of Calidona's today that the clubhouse will not be ready until this summer.

Yes that is correct, I was told July/August.

Dont understand what the hold up is. I suspect it is related to the amout of people who have completed.

Hello Jonathan 99 - the slow introduction / non-existence of facilities has also been an issue on Roda where there have been 1200 completions.  Their finances are pretty good in comparison to most of the industry.

According to the same representative that I spoke to, the resort is now finished bar the clubhouse and we shouldn't expect anything else.

Check out the Corvera website.

Can't find any mention any more of the PGA of europe.

Press room releases are blank and the old news article about the agreement has been removed ??????

PS I've just printed off the Services page where they advertise a health centre, a shopping area, restaurants, indoor swimming pool, spa, luxurious hotel..........Let's see how long it is before they delete this webpage as well ?

Hi Steve

If you want to print off something relating to Corvera and PGA Winter Headquarters, select Calidonia at the bottom of the Corvera web page and select golf.  All is mentioned there.  It actually states that 'Once fully up and running, Corvera Golf Course will become the PGA Europe Winter Headquarters.....'

absolutly right ... dont know what all the fuss is about who needs facalaties , you should  just be greatful that calidona are allowing you to purchase at this prestige resort !!!  afterall nobody minds having to drive miles to a restaurant or shop not be able to have a drink (or pay for a taxi )  .

im sure millionaire golfers will flock in there droves and then drive elsewhere for food and accomadation !!     but fear not calidona will deliver as they have done at roda  ( NOT ) .

Hi Searay.

Have looked into this a bit more.

If you look on the PGAE site there is an article which states that accomodation for the pro's is available in Calidona's own rental apartments.

Food will be in the clubhouse as at Roda

Hi Searay

Most of the pro's that will use Corvera as a training course probably WILL want self-catering as it's more affordable than a swanky over-priced hotel. I hope you didn't for one minute think that you were going to see the likes of Sergio Garcia or Lee Westwood training on our course.??

hi steve ,

good job they want self contained accomadation , as you guys on corvera havent got a hope in hell of getting anything else .

you will recall that it was the devere connection and facalaties that gave the resorts the 5 * status without them you are just another resort in the middle of nowhere with a golf course and precious little else , if you are happy with that then good luck to you .

Hi Searay,

I am afraid you are banging your head up against a brick wall on this, there are too many heads buried in the sand/bunker.

After all who would want a "swanky" hotel on the resort that they paid top dollar for, or in fact an equestrian centre, business centre,shops,restaurants??...no no no and no.. quite a few seem very content to have an apartment or delux penthouse built in the middle of the countryside with f##k all else. But hey there is an airport near by so everything is going to be great!

great job Calidona, thanks.

regards

Dave
