golf

We seem to be missing point that Barry made, ie no discount for owners without paying out for this card.  I agree Barry, that is another fast one pulled by PW.  It was always one of their main selling points.  Buy an apartment and get discounted golf on all PW courses.  I accept that you can get good discounts through Murcia golf and The Golf Factory, but we shouldn't have to go through agents on our own courses.

Yes seems like yesterday..........I can still hear the sales pitch now - as an owner you get a discount card and everytime you purchase from PW you save money! Look at the DVD they sent you it's on there.......................... what a deal, who wouldn't buy a PW property. Nobody else could or would make that type of offer.................. Hey, it seems not even PW can !!!!!

Enough of the moaning - I think PW are great and are doing everything they can within this financial climate.  KEEP UP THE GOOD WORK PW!! Oh yes when is the golf course opening?

I have just had a call asking me to buy discount card. As I had already read this thread I asked on two separate occasions during our conversation about golf discount and I was told on both these occasions that: There will be a price for public to play golf on any Polaris Golf course, there will be a reduced price for residents to play on Polaris golf courses and, if I buy the card,my 20% extra discount will be off the residents rate. The Lady seemed very suprised I asked this question twice as she said you had to be an owner on Polaris to get the card anyway so we would not pay pubic rate as residents.

You can tell the half empties from the half fulls on this site. If you think whatever was promised back pre crash (apart from your property) can still stand is naive. Incidently this is not our golf course. If polaris had not taken many of there so called controversial measurses we would be having this discussion at a supermarket down the road while buying candles and collecting water from water bowsers to flush the toilet. I apologise for being so blunt but it is frustrating when something so trivial is blown out of proportion.

How much is the discount card then? We thought it was a one off payment but we were told its an annual fee and so didnt try to find out the price. I know it offers some discount at PW pro shops, the bars and also the restaurants and by the sounds of it an additional discount on the owners discount for playing golf. But isnt it more useful for full time residents than occasional visitors if you have to pay an annual fee?

Cost is 145E annually but you do get 50% off a meal for 2 in the restaurant every time you dine there. Soon adds up if your bill is 50E a  time.

Also free stay at Mar Menor or La Torre with 1 massage and 1 golf lesson would not be cheap.

Further big discounts on subsequent stays.

Remember 10% off in bars adds up over a few stays.

Obviously it is a great deal for us full time residents but still looks good for holidaymakers too.

Thanks for the extra info Barry.......Some people on this site need to read a few more posts before making comments about whose cups are half full and who's aren't.  Mine has never been half emty, but that doesn't mean I can't express an opinium when I feel like it.   I have looked at PW site and they still do have the discounted rates for owners, don't know how you prove it though.  We are considering buying this card and Incidentally, I do know this golf course does not belong to us and never did,  I read the small print.  Try telling the dog walkers etc..  

I'm still not going to go through an agent to book a PW course.

Hi Barry, Tim anyone else with related info on the discount card.

If you only buy one of these cards per couple, can you both use it if the other is not there?  ie if we get one in Martyns name, will I be able to use it if I am there on my own?  Also, Tim,  did you, ask about the discount on golf?  If so, did you get the same reply as Davell?

Hi V and welcome to the forum.

Thanks for the info but you are completely missing the point.. We all know that we can book golf on these discount sites, and Costa Calida isn't the cheapest by the way, both "the golf factory" & "club murcia golf" have better deals.

What we are saying is that if any Tom Dick or Harry can book discounted golf through these sites for less than we can as residents then something is wrong. The Polaris sites are still showing residents fees for all the other Polaris courses so we should get the same deal. This is what we were all told on signing for our properties so they should deliver.

This is not the same as other issues that Polaris are not delivering, I can understand most of them, they are doing their best in a terrible financial climate but this is different. This won't cost Polaris anything unless the course is jam packed and i can't see that just yet. Even if it was packed they couldn't have built this course if it wasn't for all of us that bought in very difficult times. Surely we deserve something back, I paid 140k€ for my 3 bed and they are now being sold for around 110K€. We have stood by Polaris its now time for them to reciprecate.

I have same card and word is they are only valid until end 2009. I'm sure we all got 'ten bob's' benefit out of this privelidge while it lasted.

just be careful on the green fee discounts - the catch is the discount applies to the 'public' green fee, so if you elct to play under one of their other offers, such as two + buggy for 90 euro or a twilight green fee (from 2pm) for 30 euro, the discount is not really that much.

on the restaurant discount - maybe that's why it took them about 30 minutes to work out what my bill was last Friday !!!

Hi Everyone

Brian and I were due to complete on our property 072F on La Isla but Brian suffered a second heart attack 2 weeks ago and has been told by the Doctors that he will not be well enough to keep travelling backwards and forwards to Spain.  So we are left in a very serious predicament and will not be able to complete with the property.  This means as far as we know that we will lose all the money that we have invested and paid to Polaris.  We are devastated and gutted - we have waited 2 years and were so near to completing but as I always say you cannot predict your health and we are just unlucky.  Has anyone any idea how we might be able to sell the apartment or any other ideas about how we can get our money back.  We have sent all the medical letters to Polaris but they do not seem that interested.  I dont know which way to turn and obviously Brian feels so guilty that we could lose all the money.  Sorry to sound depressing but our dreams have been shattered.

I would apppreciate any help from anyone out there and good luck with all your own plans.  enjoy every moment because life is short xx

It may prove difficult in the current climate to sell for any decent price to be realistic, this does not mean it is impossible and there is always some unscruplious person with money intent upon capatlising upon unfortune. Dependant upon your long term view you could consider completion by providing power of attorney to your solicitor, this would save either of you having to attend in person in  the short term, This may not help ofcourse if you are unable to travel at all in the future. It may be an option subject of affordability doing this in the short term then either selling when the economy recovers and renting in the interim to cover costs, just an idea???
