Padron

Hi There

Not sure if this subject has been covered before but just wondering if anyone can give me any advice on getting registered on the local padron as im looking at buying a car here and have been told i will require this as part of the paperwork.Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

I just questioned why a non resident would want  or should be on padron and why padron needed to buy a car. I know that someone who is resident told to get a padron to buy a car but I understood that only an NIE was needed.

you can do a search on auto scout   use "area de busqueda"  limit to say 50kms  and in CP  put 30840  in PVP put max price you want to go to .

Speaking to a few people who have already bought cars it would seem that if you go to a reputable dealer / garage they will deal with the paperwork and registration for you and a padron is not needed.

The reason to get the Padron (which means to be register as a resident in your apartment) is it just to pay the Ayuntamiento de Alhama, the yearly tax on motor vehicles everyones pays for having a car which is called Impuesto sobre Vehiculos de traccion mecanica. If you are a Non-resident, I think you do not need the padron.Normally it is true that the company that sells you the car will deal with all paper work, and will provide you with the receipt to be paid to the ayuntamiento the first year. Then, as per the IBI, you will just need to set p the DD.

The Ayuntamiento have limited discretion with regard to setting tax rates or base which are both determined by the state based on the type of vehicle and its engine power although municipalities can vary the rate based on the size of their population.

Hi There

Was speaking to a car dealership today and asked the question regarding the padron.Was told by dealer that even as a non resident i still required my padron. All a bit confusing but may just register and save any hassle. Dont think its a major job registering on the padron.Says me.
