Hi All.

Only started a new thread so that everyone sees this.

An article in todays Costa Blanca News has stated that judges in Spain MAY go on strike. Some areas are leading the revolt but other areas are likely to follow which may include the Alicante court. Apparently, they say they do not have enough staff and resources to cope properly. Apparently the 4,600 judges have approximately  8 million cases to deal with each year. Broken down that means each judge is dealing with an average of 33 cases per week or just under 7 cases each day. [5 day week.]

The strike is planned for the 18th. February, so at least it looks like only a 1 day strike. It says that if there is no improvement in staff or resources after that then the next strike is likely to be in June. Hopefully that also will only be a 1 day strike, as there was no mention of an ALL OUT STRIKE at any time, but who knows.

That is obviously why so many of us with bank guarantees are waiting so long for the judges to cancel our out of date contracts, so that we can claim our money back from the banks. A few have had their contracts resolved but not too many and as our lawyer said recently, the courts are clogged up at the moment as well as the normal spanish SLOW system. As she said to us, we must be patient. Difficult of course, but i am afraid it is a fact of life at the moment.

Our application has been in the court for over 4 months now, [we lost 4 months through our useless previous lawyer] and others have been in the court much longer but that is life i suppose.

                                     Keep smiling.   Bob.

Hi Bob

I dont think patience works to be honest.  If the system is broke, im not one for covering it up by waiting and waiting, it wants fixing so the more you show it not to work the better chance you have.

A strike in February for one day, followed by a possible one day strike in June, is just taking the mick......not going to achieve anything is it?

Hi All,

I posted last week that I had been told that the courts may be going on strike and got rebuffed for doing so.  I have been also informed as Hawkins has posted that they are snowed under and that even if the strikes are only for a day or two things are probably going to be very slow.

All the best

Tony

Hi Brian.

I see what your saying about not going to achieve anything but of course it may end up as some strikes in the U.K. where they start off as a couple of 1 day strikes and then escalate into an all out strike, who knows.

I would have thought in the judicial system that was unlikely due to dealing with robbers, thieves and killers but of course they could always use a skeleton staff to deal with the more serious offences and let the rest just pile up.

Hopefully that wont be the case, or we are ALL in for a very long wait.

                     Bob.

Don't worry, Tiget has influential friends. They will sort it out.
PS. That is a joke. I mention that as Tiger will believe it.
