Hi,

I would be grateful if any owners or renters that visited Roda during these periods could confirm what the weather was like, the clubhouse atmosphere including any entertainment and the surrounding areas. Thinking of staying next year after the cold weather in the UK and continous depressing press about all and sundry!!

Thanks

Dave G

hi

We spent Xmas at Roda and thoroughly enjoyed it. Over a period of 10 days approx 5 were in full sun from about 1030 to 330/4pm temp on our patio around 20-lovely!  Nights were similar to UK but with the gas central heating we were nice and comfy. We enjoyed a stress-free Xmas with no last minute shopping or pressie buying. All shops open as usual and everything available however UK items like stuffing bisto etc are at vastly inflated prices.

Roda was very quiet no one else in our Block on Phase 3. Gardens and pools immaculately maintained as ever but pool too cold for me but looked very inviting. We did not use the club for Xmas or New Year functions so perhaps others will comment. However the walk from clubhouse to car park is too long in the winter and it put us off calling in for a drink as we would normally have done in the summer. The menu has not changed from the summer and is tired- they offer a barbecue chicken takeaway but it is not on the menu. A definite rethink is needed.

Los Alcazares funtioned as normal you would not notice the difference. All in we enjoyed it and will probably do it next year.

Hi

Many thanks for your reply and I hope we also enjoy the festive period in 2009 at Roda. I expect we will visit as the weather makes all the difference.

Did receive a reply from another owner who thoroughly enjoyed the club house on new years eve so maybe worth a rethink.

We are also in Phase 3 so hopefully meet nearer the time and maybe have a beer or two!

All the best for 2009.

Regards

David

We were at Roda from 26th December and returned home 1st  January.  Weather, apart from one day for a couple of hours when there was pleasant winter sunshine, was pretty poor, cool and overcast.

Club house was operating as normal, bar snacks were only poor to average but the restaurant, although same menu as the summer, was still exceptional.  We took the opportunity in the hours of darkness to take the path across the course rather than walk the whole way round to phase 3, of course keeping to the footpaths at all times.  Access from phase 3 to the clubhouse and indeed the front of Roda has to be priority for sorting this year.

Happy New Year to you all.

Jill & Terry

We were there over the Christmas period which was nice, but unfortunately our break was ruined by the people in an adjacent apartment leaving their dog out on their balcony when they went out at 5:30am every morning.  The dog then preceeded to periodically bark throughout the next hour and then during the day whenever we went out onto our patio.

I'm not sure if anything can be done, but if your planning on staying near Phase 3 block 62 (or renting your apartment) then you need to be aware that you are probably going to be disturbed by the same dog as I believe the owners or long term renters are permanently living there.

A dog constantly barking would seriously wind me up.

I don't understand why anyone who loves dogs would keep them in an apartment anyway, especially leaving them on a patio all day?

I think the cartoon type sketch with  'steak laced with sleeping powder' over the balcony would be my solution.

We returned last night after an 8 day break. Other than yesterday when it poured down the weather was nice, a little cloudy but pleasant.

LA was quiet but we enjoyed the clubhouse for New year's Eve.

We also used the "buggy" path on NYE to walk to and from the clubhouse (from phase 3)

Happy New year to all!!

We are also just back from Roda and had a great holiday although the weather wasn't as good as last year. However it was a lot better than -8 at home for two nights.

We played golf, walked on the beach most days and enjoyed the Christmas market in Cartagena. We went to the New Year's Eve dinner and dance which was really first class. The food was excellent and the staff were brilliant. It was really like a large family get together and we will definitely be booking for next year. There were around 70 people for the meal, which was in the restaurant area with the bar area reserved for the party and disco. It was a great night and went on to almost 5.00am and we got to meet lots of owners. Highly recommended.

There were not as many people around in Roda this year it seemed although most nights the clubhouse was busy enough and we ate there quite a bit. Food and tapas as usual first class and still great value. We met quite a few new owners at the New Year's Eve dinner and during the holiday and everyone we met seemed to be enoying the resort and the area. The Los Alcazares area is a bit quieter than the summer as was Roda but this is to be expected in a holiday area but on the upside parking for anywhere is easy and the sales started in some of the shops on 2nd January, which is five days earlier than usual. All in all a worthwhile trip and sitting looking out at the rain, we are looking forward to mid February when we get to go down to Spain again.
