Can any body tell me anything about this tax. I keep hearing rumours here and there. I need someone to explain what its for, when its payable and roughly how much I'm going to be stung for.I honestly think its just another Spainish rip off.

Have you found any info on the non residents tax?

I have just had my latest bank statement & they have taken 600 euro in the last 2 months without any notification.

Hi

We were over in February and went to see our solicitors PSI. I went with a friend of mine who has an apartment in BDM as well.

We were both very pleased with the non residency tax, it is 0.14% 0f the value of the price of your property. You are charged from when you purchaced to Dec 08,and is then calculated Jan 09- Dec 09 etc etc .

The charges are split between you and your husband, for example if the fees were 200 euros you would have two transactions

from your bank for 100euros (for you) and 100euros (for your husband).

The fees for ourselves from July 8th - Dec 08 were 76.37 euros (39.69 euros each) how fantastic is that?

We asked for a estimate for the next payment (Jan 09 - Dec 09) and it is 164.13 euros (82.06 euros each)

Your solicitor can take care of this for you with a cost of  125 euros per year. Hope this is some help to you.

Also good news for non residents ,we were informed that wealth tax has also now been abolished

Hi

Was wondering did you actually get a bill posted to your Apt  address or was it sent to the solicitor you used when Purchasing. The reason I ask is that our solicitor as part of our deal was for two spanish wills drawn up and first years Tax affairs. But at the time we did not get do the Wills we were to busy getting things organised .we were there for a weekend in February but there was no Bills except for the water charges.We will be back out in April for a Week so I better arrange for us to visit the solicitor then and let him earn his Money.

Hi Martin

We are e-mailed by our solicitor, so we knew we had to pay.They didnt tell us how much but did give us the percentages we were to pay. So when we came over in Feb we went to the solicitors and he told us how much it was going to be. We had no post to either our UK addresss or Spanish one. I assume that if we didnt correspond by e-mail we would have either been contacted by post or telephone. It sounds as though youve been charged for your wills already even if you havent written them yet as there is no way that is the non reidency tax.For that much tax your appartment would would have to be worth(purchase price) approx 250,000 euros.if thats the case the fees are correct, Hope this is some help to you.
