Waring of rouge companies

Just a warning to all property owners make sure that any agents they are talking with for rental or sales are fully legal, in Spain anyone can set up as an agent and take money, I would suggest you only deal with registered companies. Ask for a CIF number and make sure they are a S.L. or S.A. Alway ensure payments are made to a company. I have had several clients who have lost money.

Thats generalizing somewhat...I have rented through many  'one man band' agencies -  never had a problem, there are many dishonest people on the coast now in various walks of life,  think property sales/ timeshare /builders etc etc, don't knock the honest small agencys, who I am sure are trying to scrape a living and usually operate on personal recommendation. In fact I know of a recent case where the agency was S.L. didn't stop them dissappearing with deposits, rent money etc etc, an S.L. doesn't protect anyone if they leave Spain and cannot be found......
