My books. Spain. Observations on life.

Hot at Los Naranjos
Saturday, June 30, 2012

Played golf this morning at Los Naranjos with three pals. Phew! Got rather warm towards the end. Watched Miss Williams this PM beat the young Chinese girl but not after a good scrap.

My wife fell up the stairs this week and landed on her face. Split lip, and grazed nose, plus sprained wrists. Any excuse...I am now an expert ironer! She said she always wanted 'pouty' lips, well now she has them!Temporarily at least.

BBQ tonight. Nice to be able to plan things like that here in Spain. In the UK it's likely to rain and spoil all the preparations and fun.

Full day of writing tomorrow, got to keep to schedule for book number six.

Some years ago I went to watch Pavarotti, he didn't like it when I joined in.

Hope you're having a nice weekend.

Jordan
Thursday, June 28, 2012

It's most annoying to hear that Jordan {Katie Price} has just 'written' a new book. She doesn't even see them until the ghostwriter has completed the manuscript. There are many talented and undiscovered authors out there who deserve a chance, much more than Jordan, who is only renowned for two things. Apparently she was asked what her favourite 'tipple' was. She replied in her best Oxford English, "Whadya mean?" The interviewer continued, "Well, for example is it Chardonnay or Rioja?" Jordan replied "I don't know them two. I don't look at Page 3 no more"

Been researching most of the day for bits and pieces for my sixth novel. It's amazing some of the things you come across. In the Annual Report of the Law Society.'The West Surrey Committee recorded a case of a man who wished to take divorce proceedings but later withdrew the application in case his wife got to hear about it'

Glad Spain got through to the final last night. The Spanish people can do with a little brightness in their lives at the moment.

My young grandson has just been selected to represent Norfolk at Rugby, needless to say we're very proud of him.

Bye for now.

Not much done today as I had a telephone press interview, and then family arrived. Family save up all year in money and party spirit to give it hell when they arrive, and whilst its lovely to see them, the bank balance takes a beating for a while. San Miguel & El Coto love it of course. Sales accelerate upwards. I seldom say 'Hello' to my bed until the early hours, and kids deem it their right to drag me out of bed at some unearthly early hour to start again. I wouldn't have it any other way though.

I told an old Tom Cotter story to the kids at lunch, as per: 'When I was a young man I was riding a horse, and its leg was broken, so I had to shoot it........ everybody on the carousel freaked out'.

Hope you have a good evening.

Chapter 4 Completed
Tuesday, June 26, 2012

Just completed Chapter 4 of my latest book. This chapter deals with a wealthy priviledged boy of 11 arriving at his public school for the first time. It is a rude awakening for him. Bursars and Prefects give him a rough introduction to public school life and disciplines. Glad I went to a Norwich grammar school!!!

The RAF News Features Editor has just emailed me, they want to do a feature on the torrid time I had in Cyprus, which was the basis for my first novel, "Every Day's a Monday".

Someone asked me yesterday if I could dance. I told them 'yes I could'. I grew up with 3 brothers and two sisters. That's how I learnt to dance....waiting for the loo.

Bye for now. Hope you have a very nice day.

Cover for New Book
Monday, June 25, 2012

I've just spent some time with Nancy Holt, the artist, who has painted the covers for my first three books. She is a fantastically talented lady, and easy to work with. The cover should be ready to send to the publishers by weeks end. Can't wait to see the finished product.

I must firm up my promotional UK dates for September for "The Tuesday Empire". I shall be book signing or giving talks to people at WH Smiths, Waterstones, Jarrolds, and all the major libraries in East Anglia. I should also be appearing again on BBC Radio. Radio is very easy, just like sitting with a friend and talking about things I hold dear to my heart....my books!

Well, better get back to the writing of my sixth novel. I have provisionally named it "The Saturday Oath", but not sure if that is a good title...may change it before I've finished.

Mail Revue
Sunday, June 24, 2012

Just sent both books off to The Daily Mail for their review team to look at them. Like most things in life, whether it be singing, dancing, acting, business, even marriage, you need a bit of luck, so fingers crossed my books receive favourable reviews. It's all about getting known.

Just started writing my sixth book, after quite a while planning it. Writing comes easy once I have started, in fact sometimes I start early in the morning and find myself amazed when I look at the clock and find that hours have elapsed. I haven't started, as some actors do, behaving like my villains/heroes in real life. Good job too, as some are murderers!!!

Hope whoever reads this has a pleasant peaceful day.

I am a new blogger, so all this is new to me. I have lived in Benalmadena Pueblo for six years, and am a full time author of novels. Love the del Sol....so good for a golfer like me. I watch the Norwich City football team whenever I can....doesn't make me a bad person!!!
