My books. Spain. Observations on life.

Back Again
Monday, August 18, 2014 @ 3:17 PM

I've been away from my blog for a few months as I moved to a different villa. This villa was badly run down but in a super location, and my wife and I decided to take it on and, along with builders etc, have been working flat out to restore it, the pool, and the large garden. Cost a bomb but the results show it has been worth it.

Much of the work is done now and all of our friends & family agree that it is looking pretty good, as we knew it would. We have had our family visitors over from the UK and they all loved it.

Terrible to read about the genocide going on in Gaza. May God protect the Palestinians, and may He bring hell fire down on the guilty Israeli's militarists and their USA supporters. The word 'Nazi's' comes to mind. If anyone disagrees with my sentiments - tough!

I've just been reading about Spain and it's balance of payments. It's trade deficit for the last 6 months is 11.9€ billion. Exports have slowed to 0.5%, and imports are now standing at 5.3%. So Spain is not out of the woods yet, nor for a while it would seem. I have been told by a friend that electricity is going up yet again in a months time. It's now quadruple what it was a few short years ago. The government here is like the Tories in the UK, they applaud profits over everything else, and the plight of the average working person is never considered. Sorry to be so political but it makes me angry when many people in the UK have to decide whether to eat or heat their house. People in Spain are suffering too. I've never seen so many beggars out on the streets.

On the plus side the sun is shining, temperatures are circa 32 degrees, the beaches are full, and it is the Fiesta Season. Many Spanish people still have a smile on their faces, and they know how to party.

Well, time to get back to work.

Hope you all stay healthy & happy.

Hasta La Vista.

Joseph
