I recently inherited a property on El Pinet from an Aunt who passed away suddenly in 2010.
I had to sell it as couldnt afford the mortgage payments, nor the enormous inheritance tax bill. It was priced for a quick sale, much less than she paid for it, but enough to just about cover all of our costs.
One thing to note - you have to pay the community charges if you want to sell the property - there is no getting away from it. For the sake of any of your descendants, even if you dont want to pay the community charges to the community, stick the money somewhere else so they dont get stuck with trying to find additional cash during what is already a really stressful time.
I do feel really sorry for everyone who has invested in the development, as it has so much potential, which hasnt been fulfilled, but from experience, these community fees will have to be paid at some point by someone...
