Hi everyone,

We're taking the plunge next April and joining all you sun worshippers.  We have taken several trips around the Alicante areas like La Marina, LA Manga, Mar Manor and so on.  House hunting can work out expensive, coupled with what is the area really like when all the holidaymakers have gone home.

So we've decided to come out anyhow, and rent in two different areas 6 month's each, or at the right price 12 month's at one property, obviously allowing the owner to have their normal 4-6 weeks in their own home, timing negotiable.  The areas above would be most favourable.

This can only happen if the price is right, we do not want an apartment, and it must be at least 2 bedrooms,  any sugestions from you out there?

I have emailed 4 estate agents but unfortunately none has responded to date.

I'm open to offers and sugestions.

Mike G.

Thread: Long term rental in Spain

Hi everyone.  I for one will be coming out to live in Spain early next year,  I also seen the MacDonald programme on Friday and like many others in the UK we don't give a hoot, it's gotta be better living in Spain than rip off Britain.

Anyway a couple of weeks ago on my first introduction web I asked for help on either purchasing in the UK or possibly in Spain a Ice Cream Van.  I had some fantastic responses even the web address of Senor Whippy who apparently has the monopoly of Ice Cream Vans in southern Spain.  Unfortunately, I have sent several emails but they have never responded.

So it's back to you people.  If I was to drive a van over to Spain, what are the rules and regulations for selling Whippy Ice Cream?  What permits do I require, can I purchase the Whippy ingredients locally (Alicante).  The investment required is many thousands pounds, so doing the right homework is a must.

I have already contacted the British Consolate in Alicante, but alas they have never returned my emails.  I'm sure there is somebody who is a member of EOS has all the information I require.

Mike

Too all who have answered me, thanks.  It's what makes a good site the best.  Especially Samson, looked on Senor Whippy, and the money I was looking to invest seems to be the money they are charging, and the bonus is they sort out all the permits and areas for me. I've emailed then with 2 pages of questions, waiting for a reply.

Is there anybody out there that has delt with Senor Whippy, I'd be interested to hear how cosha this company is.

I'll keep EOS updated on my progression.

Thanks for your comments Fibby UK, look forward to any other comments you may have.  Justin I worked at MG Rover for 21 years before the shut down in 2005, I now work in Kings Norton.  We paint parts for Bentley, Jaguar, Aston Martin, L/Rover and Honda, I am a Colour Measurement Quality engineer.  Harley, I live in Rednal, 1 mile away from the old Rover plant. Sheila & Alan, thanks for your kind remarks, I will definetly do my homework, a 5 year old Ice Cream van will cost 20 to 25 thousand pounds.  So I have to be certain.  The area we are looking at buying is between Alicante and Torevejeca (Sorry spelling needs Correcting)  possibly La Marina.

Keep the information coming, I'm certainly getting more joy from EOS than the British Consolate in Spain.

EOS, keep up the good work, the site is the best thing coming out of Spain for information.

Looking for a little help here.  I'm currently living in the UK as an Automotive Engineer, but looking to buy in Southern Spain early next year.  Although I can afford to buy a property outright, i'm probably not as well off as some of you already there so i'm looking at investing some money in a ice cream van, and sell wippy ice creams around the urbanisations, simular to what happens in the UK.  Before I invest money in my new adventure, I need to know how the law stands in permits, licences and anything else I hav'nt even thought about.  Can anybody help me in guiding me in the right direction.  Oh by the way, i'll be bringing my wife with me to serve the ice creams.  Somebody's got to drive the van....
