There is a garage at the Alicante airport junction just outside the airport, I know it can be accessed from coming into the airport not sure if you can though from the airport (roadworks around the building of the new terminal). The Gran Alicant one is next then its at Santa Pola under the flyover so you have to take the exit sliproad signposted Elche/Santa Pola to access it.

This new airport might well be a white elephant if the budjet airlines keep reducing their number of flights and in some cases collapsing!

We have used Carjet for the last four years and found the website easy to use. Each time the hire car was from different companies at Alicante airport, each time it was a brand new car, this summer it only had 6km on the clock and the manufacturers barcodes still on! We found Carjet to be a very good price. Basically if you don't know how it works, Carjet is a broker and uses whichever hire car company is the best deal. 

One thing that still annoys us, is each car hire company not stating that there is no emergency equipment in the car, we have sussed this out and ask for it. There is an excuse the car hire companies in Alicante airport  are using regarding not leaving this essential equipment in each car, the excuse is that the law regarding this is not applicable on airport land!!!

So always ask for the equipment despite a refundable deposit.

We felt and heard this quake, can't believe it after telling our rather scared daughter ( who hid under the bed after the last one a week previous) that they are rare and would not happen again during the holiday!

Its my first post so be gentle....

Just come back from three weeks in Costa Blanca and loved the heat. Up to 42c last Saturday in Alicante!

Then I came back to the UK.... well I suppose it was nice not to rely on air conditioning at night, but come on, it rained for two days solid it seemed. I refuse to put the central heating on, after all its summer!

I understand the heat in Spain in August is extreme, however it was bearable, much more now air conditioning is more prevelant than in the 1990s; but this is balanced nicely with the fact that I woke up with blue skies and no rain for the three weeks. Try that here in the UK!
