All you should be paying for at this moment is Power of attorney which costs around €200.00. many of the solicitors will have a payment plan based upon getting your investment back. Ours for example ask for payment in 4 equal shares during the course of action but what you are being asked for is somewhat excessive so i would definately check it out.

All,

Just to be clear, I wasn't the one paying the 50 euros, I have a legitimate Property Services business on the Costa Blanca and this story was brought to our attention by a client.

We also avoid 'taxi' runs, far to many legalities in the service let alone the risks people run in opting to accept such a service from 'friends' or 'neighbours'. Any accidents, the driver is not insured to carry fare-paying customers and the policia local / guardia civil are working with legal cab firms to identify frequent visitors to the airport and pulling them up outside the airport perimiters, often leading to tourists making their way back to the terminal with suitcases in hand to hail a proper cab, money being paid twice for the same journey....no re-compensation either. Although we, like others, are keen to seek out business, the original post was free advice to those who may be considering going down the neighbourly route.......it's a risk you take.

Hi all,

Long time no speak (hope you're well FibbyUK)

We advertise under the Residential Santa Ana del Monte part of the Forum however, I would like to bring this extremely useful piece of information to the whole forum which was sent recently to a local newspaper in our Region. Make interesting reading...especially regarding insurance.

"I live in the UK for parts of the year and in Spain for the rest, as I’m sure many of your readers do. I recently had the misfortune of my house in Spain being broken into and possessions taken. I went through the usual channels of the police and my home insurance company, only to find out that my home insurance was invalid due to the fact that my neighbour (who is also the urbanisation president) held keys for my property and action would be taken against my neighbour by the police for improper trading. I was dumbfounded!

Like many of us I had been paying my neighbour 50€ a month to look after my property and keep an eye on it only to find out it was all for nothing! I trust my neighbour implicitly and know that none of this is his fault and feel really sorry about the whole ordeal.

I have now replaced most of my stolen goods at my own expense and use a licensed property management company to look after my property when I leave the country, it was a very expensive lesson for both myself and my neighbour."

Regardless of who you choose for PM services, make sure you are totally covered.

Hi there

Thanks for the reply. Good idea. I've had a quick look at a few of the charity websites but not actually rang any of them up.

Hi all

I can vouch we had an earthquake in La Zenia early this morning, we got hit at approx 05:04am and as QPM states....was like a train running through the property. If you've ever been in a hotel / bar or property above an underground train line.....felt very similar.

Some earthquake sites are claiming the epicentre was 3miles off the coast of Mijas at 04:15 this morning

regards

Darren
