Conflict in the Community

Just back from DH2 after completing and staying on for further 2 weeks.

Had a fantastic time and love the place. Anyone getting near to completion i bet you cannot wait. As i have a 8 month baby daughter, i had plenty of  time to look at the whole site. Walked several times down to the end of site and looks like the next three streets we nearing completion if not just about ready. Like the one off villa which has been built - anyones??

We completed on a Thurs and i had not got air con arranged to be installed until the Sat. after spending two days without it i suggest anyone who is unsure wether you need it - it's a must!! The company i had arranged to install were great and had completed installation of three units to bedrooms and living area by about 16:30. Used air con for two weeks and no problems so far.

While i was there attempted to do some little jobs to apartment. I have fitted a shower cubicle which only cost 64 euro's from the DIY in the habaneras in Torre. This is the cheapest one i seen and i looked in several different ones. Also bought a glass screen for bath reduced from 78 to 46 euro's from brico just down at the n332 roundabout (turn right and 1000 yards on left). Fitted both in a morning and no problems so far.

I also changed my sofa for a sofa bed (thanks to advice from fellow members of this site) Arranged with furniture company my arrival date and sofa arrived two days later. Cost me 420 euros plus original sofa. I personally have not slept on it but even though my daughters had there own beds they tried out and found it to be comfortable.

Only downside to my stay was hearing from my very friendly neighbours who had arrived a week earlier was how they had been unfortunate enought to be robbed! While one was out a man came to the door and said he needed to see upstairs on solarium. while he was up there someone else went into living area and stole a handbag.

While there it seems that this occurance tends to happen to people when they first move in. Spoke to several people and always heard similar stories. My advice is at all times to ensure that you close your door. I think once the building work has been completed you will see this disappear.

As i have 3 children, spent time looking at area and found several things for kids to do including 3 different waterparks, Meals were great at Via Park III and enjoyed two great meals from the chinese there (these were probaly two of cheapest meals on holiday) also had great meals at Spud Murphy's who also do takeaway.

Had a fantastic time just cannot wait for completion of my pool! Anyone with any questions please email.

Hi Cull Mac

Congratulations on taking possession of your new place in the sun.

We are due to sign for our keys on 17.9. and soooooo looking forward to it.  Coming out for two weeks commencing 16.09 and really looking forward to it.  Did you have any problems with snagging?  We have booked into the Torre Joven Hotel for five days until all legal formalities and snagging  have been completed.

We too are wanting to change our sofa for a sofa bed.  We were under the impression that this order could take up to six weeks.  Noticed from your comments that you did the same and it only took a couple of days.  Would save us a lot of grief it this was the case.  Could you give us more info.

Also you mentioned on your forum that you installed a shower cabinet and bath screen. Could you let us know who your suppliers were as we also wanted to get these fittings too. Appreciate any info you have on the above and also if you recommend your air con installation. 

Sorry to go on about all our questions, we're really new to this so any info is really appreciated.

On the subject of house break ins.  We were over in May this year and were speaking to a young couple who had just moved into their apartment.  They had just moved into their ground floor apartment. They explained that on the day the moved in they were also subjected to burglary.  They told us that a foreign male came to their door pertaining to be enquiring or selling something.  While he distracted their attention within their garden area, a second male then entered their apartment from the opened front door, stole their passports, euro currency ,and mobile phones which had been placed on their dining room table.

Lesson here is that although you get carried away with the excitement of taking possession of your new property,  you really have to have your wits about you especially when you move in.

Sorry to go on but would really appreciate your help and comments.  Looking forward to meeting new friends and maybe partake in a glass of vino.

Congrats alan and arlene I am also jealous of u infact jealous of anyone conpleting before us Where r u situated on dh2 would b great to know I am sure cull mac will come back to u with all the answers she was v helpful to me The break in thing seems to b a pattern as I have heard this a few times now Such a shame that u need to keep on alert for possible theives I suppose u feel cos your in another country that u get away from stresses like that Problem with those doors r that once u close them behind u then u r locked out so u would have to have the keys on u at all times People say that it will stop when the building has finished Wonder whether u can find out the status of the sales on dh2 last time I heard 400 out of 600 had been sold Also if there is any news on the commercials apparently these won't start until more houses r built Oh and finally what is happening abt the golf course they are building across the road Speak soon Saznaz

I am new to this site, just found it ten minutes ago. I hope to be completing in  december. I noticed Cull Mac talking about the villa, my apartment is close to this. Can anyone tell me how the building work is going near the villa. Any imfo would be much appreciated.

Hi remmy We are due to compled in dec too My parents r going out there tom as they have friends who have a place in torrevieja so they r gonna take pics and let us know how they get on and how our place is coming along so will get back to u on that Regards Saznaz
