Topical Ryder Cup Thread........

I'm sure that i read somewhere on the forum that a rumour was circulating a few weeks back about plans afoot to hold the Ryder Cup at Condado in the distant future? Did I really read this or was I imagining it? If I did does anyone know where the rumour sprang from originally?

Goes without saying that it would be good for all of us...........so long as Faldo isn't captain lol.......oh yeah and the yanks leave Boo at home.

Yes it has been posted on various threads on this forum and others.  Lots of people have been indivudally told by different PW staff that it is a stated aim of PW to bring the Ryder cup to Condado.    It was also mentioned in a UK Newspaper (Daily Mail I think) article which rua on Condado sometime around June/July..

Whether they'll ever get the Ryder cup is of course another matter, but whats positive is that they are clearly setting their standards high enough to think that they'd be in with a chance of hosting it. 

I'm not so how far in advance they set the locations for the Ryder Cup, but I read the next 3 yesterday - so I guess the earliest that it could be would be 8 years away, but as CdA is a 10 year project I guess that wouldn't be any surprise. 

Someone had posted a copy of the Newspaper article on the Photos link so if you trawl back a few months you may find it.

.. just found the article 1st try.  It's under photos, CdA, 02 June 2008 - 55666. It was a daily Express Article, not Mail as I thought.

well it looks like 2018 is the great hope for us. The venues have been selected up to 2020 with the exception of 2018, it's in Europe that year. 

The most recent Ryder Cups in Europe have been in Ireland (2006) and England (2002). The next two venues in Europe are in Wales (2010) and Scotland (2014). 

From doing a bit of research, it seems that the 2018 venue will be held in Continental Europe. It has only ever once been held in Contintal Europe back in 1997 - Valderama in South of Spain!

As far as i know the latest Ryder Cup was held on a Niclaus designed course and the tournment in Scotland in 2014 is also on one of his - they seem to like 'em!!
