Bank Accounts

Has anyone out there opened a bank account in the village. If so was it easy and are there any recommendations on which one ? but most important of all can they English because as yet my Spanish is !!!!!!

Buenos dias Pete y Mave, funnily enough I had to phone Caja Murcia in balsicas today to organise a mortgage and their english is "muy poco" Im not to sure which other banks there are in balsicas but we have an account with CAM bank in orihuela costa and their english is "muy bien" Tel:0034 965 323 116 Fax: 0034 965 321 910 E-mail: rcutanda@cam.es

we are heading out in january and are going to sort out a bank account then  we bought through Medsea estates and they are going to help us arrange it

Pete & Mave, 

we now have two bank acccounts in Spain. The first with the Banco Halifax Espana - the branch is in the Balneario Shopping Centre in Los Alcazares - most of the staff there are from the UK but the spanish staff speak excellent english. We set this account up in the UK through the Bank of Scotland/Halifax - reason is they don't charge for money transfers between our UK bank account and our spanish one. The other is with the Caja Murcia (because we took over part of the builders mortgage on our property and they insist you have an open account with them). Again the branch we've used is in the Balneario but the staff there don't speak english. The Banco Halifax staff were extemely helpful during our recent visit and not just about banking.
