We have just returned from Los Alcazares in Spain and returned to Rosalinds restaurant. The credit crunch has resulted in Rosalinds adding a budget menu, so we thought we would try it out.

There were two other tables taken in the restaurant and we ordered our starter. It was disappointing, only two small pieces of chicken for the starter and a few salad leafs. Oh well, we waited in anticipation for the main course. In the meantime we ordered another bottle of wine and a bottle of water. Twenty minutes later the food, wine and water had not arrived. We were asked by another waitress if we would like more drinks and we told her that we ordered another round twenty minutes ago. Her response was "Oh, he is slow isn't he!" we think she was referring to the barman. She didn’t go and chase him up! We asked for our drinks again and they still didn't come.

When the food arrived we asked again and they were brought out.

The food that came out was ridiculous. My portion of curry was lost in the bottom of a large bowl. A pathetic amount of rice a few cubes of meat in a thin sauce is hardly my idea of a meal.

We eventually complained, finished our meal and then the owner came across and said that if we'd said something earlier she would have given us more food. Her excuse was that she had to make a profit! The meal was rubbish compared to the a la carte menu (which also has fantastic presentation) no presentation required, simple ingredients and not much of it.

Other restaurants in the area offer meal deals and you get a limited menu but the portion sizes are the same – so why not at Rosalinds.

We left, still hungry and went to Pearls Plaice – a chip shop - to get something to eat.

So overall a very disappointing experience, very poor service and a hostile / aggressive owner.

We visit Los Alcazares often and we will not be returning to ROSALIND's.

Do not choose from the budget menu unless you are happy paying a lot of money for very little food.

Wow how disapointing and anoying for you. I will go in and see them when I am next out at Roda as last time we went the meal was fantastic. What a shame.

We recomment Roslalins to our customers and need to check this out.

Thanks for your comments.

We have been to Rosalinds many times and we have never had a disappointing meal. They now do Sunday Roast as well and this is also excellent. We live in Spain and have many visitors and we always take them to Rosalinds.

Just back from Roda Golf and we went to Rosalinds and I have to say the service and the food were still of a very high standard and we had to book to get a table so business is picking up for them.
i will still be recommending them to our clients and will be updating our website on them http://www.rentals-rodagolf.co.uk/Restaurants/Rosalinds_Los_Alcazares.html

I eat in Roslinds from the set menu atleast once a week and have to say the food is fantastic for 14.95 for two courses (I think) as for la diva the food out of season is far better than in the peak as the standards seem to drop badly maybe the chefs can't handle the quantity of meals to be made which us a shame
