Discussion re Digital TV providers

Teleast TV
Monday, February 13, 2012 @ 11:31 PM

Does anyone know of the present situation regarding Teleast and their provision (or lack of ) for the Costa Calida area, or cantact numbers. It appears their website address has now been cancelled.

March 2012 - managed to get through to their office who said Teleast is still operational and that their website was being updated and would be reinstated later.

Thanks for the update - I have tried calling their Los Alcazares office several times but got a recorded message saying number no longer in use and their website is now apparently defunct and available to buy.

Have always had Teleeast service no problems. Yesterday we lost signal and they tell us they are changing frequencies. They say they'll let us know when someone can come out to change the fequency. Anyone have the same problem.

Was in Spain 21st - 28th April. We lost internet connection but Teleast Engineer came same day and fixed. I'm in Pinar de Campoverde and luckily have a Teleast office right there on my doorstep. I just walked in and they booked the engineer for me.
However, i was talking to them in the office as they seemed very busy with calls regarding loss of TV. They told me it was due to Torresat (their transmitter supplier), scrambling Teleast customers siganals as Torresat had just been told they were transmitting illegaly? The Teleast assistant said that Teleast were going to get their own transmitters but in the short term would look to use somebody else's? Reading between the lines here, Teleast clearly seem to be just an agent with no transmitter of their own (yet), so therefore seem to rely on others to supply them with it. Could do with an update from someone in the Campoverde area as i'm back in the UK for a few weeks now.

I am with torre sat and do not have any problems at the moment, but 2 of our friends are with teleast and lost their signal 3 weeks ago. One was able after many times to get an answer from teleast and was told he needed a new card and
engineer would call to reprogram system, still waiting then after more calls to teleast manager said that they would refund one months subsciption still waiting for refund. He also said that all loyal customers would be getting their fees reduced to €13
a month after they get back online so has anybody else had this offer.

I am in Torre Pacheco. I currently pay 21 € for tv and 20€ for internet. We should be getting 6 meg online but get just more than 3 on a good day. Sometimes we get no signal at all for days. As for the tv, the signal seems to be fine a lot of the time but the service itself leaves a lot to be desired. With constant frequency changes necessary and changing channels it is becoming quite monotonous. I will be calling into the Los Alcazares office later today to have a word. Especially as they seem to be offering a new price of 15 and 13 € respectively to New customers in Orihuela, along with fresh peppers and produce. You can see this on their info channel. If we get the price reduced to this amount it would ease our dis_satisfaction. Although I do begrudge paying good money for what is simply an amateur service. Nice to see they have many new sparkling offices though!

@ Dave, there is an article in this weeks free paper "the leader" regarding Torresat's defence. An interesting read. I have had my chat with teleast at their los alcazares office and I was received as well as a horses head. So I will be cancelling the.direct debit and doing exactly what Gary has done. Ah, much better than paying a subscription for "free to air" channels.

I am a client of Teleast Digital and have my Telly and Internet with them, and over the past couple of weeks I have noticed my channels were doing odd things. I have also heard some verof weeks I have noticed my channels were doing odd things. I have also heard some very interesting things about the company. This made me very curious, so I decided to do some research (I have nothing else to do, so this was quite entertaining).

The first thing that caught my attention was that some channels were working, and some weren't. But the bizarre thing that caught my attention the most was that before the paid channels had a $ symbol next to them, but they now didn't. I know that if the encoding on the card was not activated, those channels would not work. So I took the card out to see if they would still work; they did. That's when I really noticed something peculiar. Firstly, that the card I took out, was not from Teleast, but from Torresatelit TV, S.A, I know this company and I felt like I was being tricked.

I phoned my friend, who is also a client of Teleast, and I asked him if he knew what was going on with the Telly, and he told me to first cancel my direct debit from the bank, and since it was not being encoded, I could watch the telly for free! Secondly, he told me to cancel any payments to Teleast, so I did. Thirdly, he told me to just ignore their phone calls for the moment.

I did what he told me, and to my surprise, it actually worked! I can watch telly for free and I got 42€ when I cancelled the last two payments!

I have carried on hearing talk about the company, and I don't think they are fully legal, I could be wrong, but something smells fishy with them. They are putting up billboards, putting leaflets on cars advertising their low priced TV, well now I know that is just not true.

If you are a client of Teleast, like I was, then try what I did and let me know how it goes!

RE: Tom

Tom I think you may have ended up costing yourself more money than saving. This is a well known method of getting new clients over here. The Tv companies remove the encryption hoping for rival clients to swing their dishes around to the unencrypted system. A few months later they encrypt the system and you will need to pay for access. If you are an existing customer and just cancel, you will be charged a reconnection fee plus backdated fees. Well done.

I have had Teleast as internet-provider since 5. of june 2012......from time to time the signal disappears for 2-5 minutes, comes back, and disaååears again - very annoing.........................but suddenly, the 10.9 2012, my signal disappeared completely - called the office, and was told there was a waiting time on 48 hours, for a technician to come and fix it.....well 48 hours later, the 12.9 2012, a technician arrived, and told me that the reciever-disc was broken - and that it was normal, that the equipment would brake down after 3 months!!??........well, he fixed it, and I was happy.....untill the day after - signal disappeared - called the office and expected that the error would be fixed immidiatly, as it was 2 times in same week.......but nooooo, I would have to wait 48 hours, for a technician to look at it........but a technician called 24 hours later, and said the problem was fixed, by a push on a button in the company........It is the worst service I have experiensed, and I will change company, when I get a good offer.......the company could offer a form of compensation, one would believe, but nooooo.....it is all about money-making, no costumer-nursing............shame on Teleast

So far tv programs work ok.how long you are with them and what issues were or are you expiriensed already?
Good luck.I. suppose that in the end you only get what you pay for as they say.David Ronnen

On 28th August TV channels started to disappear. visited Teleast shop in Los Alcazares and given a new card. Still did not obtain all channels and subsequently told our box (Enigma X) had to be replaced as well. Its now October 26th 2012 and after daily visits to Teleast shop in Los Alcazares have still not had a call from the office or a visit by an Teleast engineer. In fact I am now only receiving BBC1, BBC2, ITV and a couple of other channels but thats it. I have now handed in today a written request to Teleast to cancel my TV service. I plan to continue the Teleast Internet service-so long as it does not also suffer the problems I aam having with the Teleast TV service. Final note like other users have found one of the telephone numbers simply rings and then cuts off. The other rings and always goes to answerphone and return calls are never received. I am truely disappointed after having their service for over 5 years

Can anyone give me the office address of Teleast in Los Alcazares as, like everyone else, I am not getting any response from their answerphone after leaving messages and I have to drive from the other end of La Manga so I want to make sure I am going to the correct office.
