Disgusting British soldiers' behavour in Tenerife
Wednesday, February 10, 2010 @ 5:04 PM

I have been truly disturbed reading about the recent punch-up in an Argentinian restaurant in Tenerife.  Totally unprovoked and they have brought some real shame on the Brits.

What possesses people to behave like this?

You can read about the incident here.

I have a few Argentinian friends and neighbours here and they are always so friendly and polite.  They are not the sort to cause trouble.

Whilst this behaviour is out of order and totally unacceptable, unfortunately it is the Army/ forces lifestyle for you. They are rigidly trained to be aggressive, to hurt and to kill, yes they should be disciplined too.

Not making excuses for them but I can't even begin to imagine the horrors some of the lads may have been through recently with Afghanistan and Iraq, some of the horrors may well materialise after a cerveza or two.

I do not condone their behaviour, but I think the senior officers are sending out "loaded bullets" into the community and not addressing the potential for trouble.

There is absolutely no excuse for them. My husband John was in the Scots Guards for 22 years and served in the Falklands, so if anybody had an excuse for causing trouble in an Argentinian restaurant he would have, but he too was horrified by this. No matter how drunk they may be, this behavious is inexcusable.

Don,t let them hide behind what has happened to them in Afghanistan. If all the lads that had fought for their Country acted like these animals what a state we would be in. They are just selfish thugs whose familys should be ashamed to own them. I hope they rot in hell.
