It seems such a long time since I wrote my last episode & I feel so frustrated that things seem to me to be going so slowly & except for an awful lot more of preparatory work am not much further forward to realising my dream than a few months ago.

My redeeming consolation is that I travel to Spain later this month armed with a whole load more knowledge than I had when I was last their in July.

Looking back now, the idea I had that I would just fly to Spain, see something & sort it within a few days was at the best optimistic.

However, I now know the area I want to look at  which is Axarquia, a fairly large area I know, but only a small percentage to where I was looking at previously.

I have arranged to meet several estate agents & owners over a three day period & will hope to have secured something then.   Of course with my mate with me who is also looking for a place think we may have a stronger bargaining power.

I cannot deny that I feel truly optimistic of getting a property this month & although the excitement of returning to Spain has not gripped me yet I'm certain that it will.

I wish you well and hope you find your eutopia, however patience and going in with your eyes open and your wallet closed is a good idea.

Take your time and enjoy the experience of your chosen area visit it at all times of the year it can look so very different.

I took nearly 3 years to find my dream home and am glad I did when I read what has happened to others who were not so carefull
Again I wish you well.

Thank you James, & here's me worrying about not having it sorted in a few months!
Reading Tamara's she saw her dream place the second home she visited (although she did look at others).
But I don't think James, that I could spend 3 years looking!
I appreciate your good wishes, thank you.

Hi Gerald, nice to hear that you've narrowed your area and are travelling back soon to check out some properties. I've missed reading your blog so will look forward to reading the parts when you return. We now have our house in the Uk on the market in preparation (hopefully!) for our move next spring/summer! You never know how long these things might take! Good luck Louise

Many thanks Louise for both your comments they really are appreciated. I think it is so nice to hear & know of anyone reading the blog.
I hope your sale in the UK goes soon & well, but it is a far far better market in the UK than in Spain.
Do you have a place in Spain? if so where is the area. (Just being nosey really!!). But I am interested as I like to hear of anyone who is approximately at the same stage of moving as myself.

Hi Gerald, the house is on the market and we already have 4 viewings booked over the next week or two! I'm already being impatient and wanting an offer and we haven't yet had the first viewing!! It is however later today! We don't have anywhere yet but have looked at a couple of places in a small town called Villanueva del Trabuco. Look it up, its lovely, very Spanish but with about 500 ish Foreigners. Mostly English but a few Dutch as well. We have already made lots of friends there. They did suffer badly in the recent floods but as they are proud people (the Spanish) they have been working hard to get everything cleaned up! We have looked at a tardis of a town house and a cortijo just 4 mins drive from the centre of the village. There is alot of interest in the cortijo and thats the one we would really like! We live in Exeter at the moment and are lucky that the housing market isn't too bad here, it being a University town helps I'm sure. Looking forward to hearing how you get on when you and Richard go back in a couple of weeks!! :)

Hi Louise,
you sound as excited as me & I'm bad enough.
Villanueva del Trabuco looks really beautiful & seems to me that there is loads to see. I love scenery & nature so anywhere with the views shown on Google maps really appeals to me. But Spain has so much beauty & I've never been disappointed yet.
Yoy never know Louise we may be not far apart.
We'll keep each other informed I hope.
