Wedding Plans

Well, we've just got back from the Ayuntamiento. We now know that the wedding can go ahead either 4th or 5th July, provided we get out fingers out and collect the mountain of paperwork needed. So tomorrow we're off to Alicante to get all the documents. Everything needs to be translated from English to Spanish and then notarised. The Consul can do all this, but it will be no surprise that they will charge 100 euros for each document... let me see, two birth certificates, two divorce papers, two no impediment documents, passports - we're up to 800 euros and they're bound to find another one. Oh, what price love? We're going to La Marina tomorrow night to hear/see a duo and if they come up to scratch, we're going to book them for the party on the roof. I'll let you know how we get on at the Consul.

Banns Posted

Sorry, I clean forgot to update you all. We now have our banns on the wall at the Consulate in Alicante. As predicted we are just over 800 euros poorer, but it was no surprise.

We have to go back in 21 days to collect all the translated, stamped documents and then return them to Formentera Town Hall.

Now we're busy finding apartments for friends and family to stay in for the weekend. The wedding will be on 4th July, so if you're passing Formentera del Segura on that day, you know where you'll find Alan and me!

Hi Irene & Alan,
Congratulations!
Have a wonderful wedding in the sun.
My Brother is going through the same process, to marry in August in Aspe.
He said the paperwork has been horrendous and expensve, so I sympathise on that part!
Good luck to you both
Kind regards,
Sue

Well done to you both. Quite an achievement.

July 4th is USA Independance Day too, not that there's any relevance. Just thought I'd stick it on, lol !!

Sadly, we won't be in Spain then but hopefully we'll meet up next month & drink your good health then.

I'm delighted to see someone else having the same issues as we are! (Although of course sad that there are issues at all). My fiance and I are hoping to marry in the Cathedral in Lorca next year and are finding it incredibly difficult to suss out what is necessary legally, mainly because neither of us have a word of Spanish and we don't want (at this stage anyway) to go to the extra expense of employing a wedding planner. Any pointers offered would be greatly appreciated!
