Hello all,

Hoping someone can help me by shedding some light on a nasty letter I received this morning!!

I've received a letter from novagalicia banco re Declaration de Residencia Fiscal. We've had our apartment nr Alicante for almost 3 years but quite unaware what this tax is. We have been paying what we thought was all monies die or Suma etc! Unfortunately it does appet they are claiming we owe €3000 but being in Spainish nothing seems clear. We will be contacting our local Solicitor who originally acted on our behalf for further advice.
We have no Spanish mortgage on our property, and a friend of mine who also has a place suggested maybe because of this our fees may be cost more??

Any advice will be greatly appreciated,
Many Thanks
Mike

Dear Clients and Friends,

At the beginning of this year, we advised many of you of changes to the
electricity market in Spain and of the new free market. Some of you switched to
a new company within Iberdrola with a new contract number to take advantage of
the savings.

We have now heard from within Iberdrola that if clients remain with Iberdrola
Comercialización de Último Recurso as at the 1st October 2010, their electricity
will increase by 4.8%, whereas if they change to the free market company
(Iberdrola Generación S.A.U.), Ibedrola promise that there will be no price
increase until July 2012. In addition the bills will be bi-monthly with
accurate readings.

We would like to offer to make the change of contract for you with Iberdrola at
a charge of €30 to cover our time and the work involved. The change is
effective 1st October 2010 so please let us know as soon as possible. All we
need from you to do the change of contract is an email and we can make
arrangements for payment to follow separately.
Received this email from our solicitors, has any Forum members received anything similar??

Thanks

Iberdrola...........................  Law to themselves.

We went over to our apartment last month for a 5 day break, to find out we had NO electricity. At 4pm on a Thursday afternoon we realised we had a problem, and trying to contact them was a nightmare as my spanish is limited to be polite.

Finally found out that although our payments have always come out of our Bank account our Solicitor unearthed that we had been paying next doors bill, and Iberdrola had decied to remove our Electric meter.

Long story short 5 days holiday with Three young children and no Electricity/Hot water/ NO shower. It took them 3 weeks to sort it out and we had to pay a Re conection fee of 60 Euro's!!!!!

Only in Spain lol, in the end with candles at night etc we decided no way was it going to spoil our much needed break and we have never been out so much as the Weather thankfully was Great.....................

Hello to all,

Just joined up sp please go easy on me!!!!!!!

We are frequent visitors to Spain so I guess we have the best of both worlds. As for the topic itself, I suppose the old saying "Good and bad where ever you go" still stands.
