How close should you let your 2 year old get to a tiger?

I took the family to Castellar Zoo yesterday and was surprised to see 1 month old tiger cub wonder into the ticket office as we were paying. We were allowed to hold and play with their new arrival and it was a fantastic experience right up there with any animal experiences I've had around the world.
The video clip is of my wife holding the as yet unnamed cub and my middle cub (Jacob) plucking up courage to stroke him and then recoiling as he got a snappy response.
Lots of other great things at the little zoo (another highlight being allowed into the lemurs' cage and feeding them from your hands) if you can overcome your moral objections to the caging of wild animals.
