The Big Bang

A very loud bang was heard over a wide area of southern Spain this morning at about 9.30. I woke up with a start, and the cat's eyes were out on stalks.
It was the hot topic of discussion over morning coffee. Various theories and rumours emerged; terrorist bomb (my immediate thought); nearby crane falling over (my second thought); earthquake; gas explosion; official start of Torremolinos Féria; etc.etc.
So, was it the sound of the stock markets crashing, or the end (or beginning) of the universe after a Large Hadron Collision in Switzerland?
The official line is that it was a military jet going through the sound barrier.
I have read reports of people as far away as Antequera and the Axarquia hearing it. Anyone else, and where were you?

I live in Coin and we heard it too!!  it was soooo LOUD and the house shook; I thought it would come down! I said to my OH that no way was that thunder!!!   My poor boxer dog who hates thunder thought his time was up!!!

I read a posting on the Sky News site that there were some works beginning today (did not say where but 25k from Malaga) and the council had written to residents telling them to expect explosions while they blast the land!

Don't know where SKY get their news from.
