Once you finally leave here and set foot in your new home in spain, what do you have to do?

Do you have to register somewhere? or go to the police and tell them you now live there?

Its a good while before we take this step, but once you get there what do you have to do?

Cheers.

Have you already got a property?  There are some things you need to do before you can move in I understand . Just beginning to find them out for myself.

Hiya,

Nooooo we aren't that brave (or rich!) to buy anywhere there, we are just renting.

:-)

if you are going to be resident in Spain, you should register at your local Foreigners Department or, in the absence of one, the National Police. You'll get a useless green certificate that is no good as ID since it has no photo on it. (Assuming you already have a NIE number??). You should also sign on the padron at your town hall - similar to the electoral roll.

There have been plenty of discussions on this forum about NIE, residency and padron, so use the search facility; you should find a wealth of information.
