We have recently purchased a property in Las Kalendas, Fortuna and  we want  to install either a freeview or sky system.   Can anyone recommend a company to use?   Which is better, as we don’t want to pay a monthly subscription until we  move there permanently and will only need to view while we are there on holidays?   We have sky here in the uk so we could bring our viewing card with us.

Alan & Bev

unfortunatley i am not in your area, but can ofer a bit of advice.
firstly, you cannot get freeview in spain. freeview is the UK digital terrestrial service, athat is only available in the uk, via the aerial on your roof. the spainish equivilent is TDT. check TDT. es to see if this available in your area.
you can get freesatfromsky, or freesat - which gets the main terrestrial channels via satellite - bbc, itc, c4, five. reception of these does depend on the size of the dish. some areas of spain need a 2.4m dish to get bbc and itv, some just 1.2m. you may not get all channels 24/7 - bbc2 being notoriously difficult.
you can use your sky card in any other sky receiver and get the "6 mixes" channels. however, you will not be able to view the sports or movies channels as these are box specific - you can get recivers that does allow this, but you do not have hte eay to use sky guide, and are limited to just now and next programme information!

check the local press, but also canvass a few of your neighbours for recommendations and to look at their installations - even down to how the cables are routed from the dish to the house - for example some installers dont care how the cable runs look, or put the cables on the gound in areas that can flood easily.

hope this helps

Hi
I've just found this thread.
The Las Kalendas off plan forum is where you may have got more positive replies.
We have a sat dish that we use to pickup the free sky offerings without a contract.
Having said that not all the channels (bbc2) are picked up out here.
If you bring your sky card then you will need to get a sky digibox - most of the installers can provide one as part of the installation.
Installers www.fortunasat.com  and www.solar-sky.com  both advertise in the local free press.

ps. where on Las Kalendas are you located?
