Polaris World did not contact us at all to inform us that our phase 3 on TDLT (re-classified as phase 9) is being cancelled.  We only found out through this discussion board.  In mid November 07 we contacted them to query the cancellation.  They said that someone from Head Office would contact us.  As expected no body contacted us.  We eventually called into the local PW office in our own city and were told on 26 Nov that we would receive the refund three weeks later.  This did not happen.  We have been hounding PW on a daily basis with emails and phone calls and we are fed up.  By last week all that we received was a cancellation order.  It looks as though it will take another 3 months to receive our money.

Hi Holly,

Mike Underwood from Polaris came to visit us at home in Nov 2007 to let us know that our property on Terraza was no longer being built.

They offered us a refund which we accepted then in true Polaris style we never heard anything from them again.

We eventually went over 6 weeks ago and had to practically force them to sign the cancellation agreement (they were very reluctant). Yet again we still didn't hear anything.

I called them today and am now seeking legal advice from a spanish solicitor, you are totally wasting your time calling or emailing. They can't do enough for you when you are purchasing once something goes wrong they are hopeless.

I would advise anyone thinking of purchasing a property from Polaris not to bother.

The apartments may be lovely but if anything goes wrong forget it.

Hi Alyson, we returned the cancellation contract to them on 14 Feb.  This moring they sent us back a copy of it by courier. There was no letter or explanation with it to state when the refund will be paid into our bank account.  We also phoned them this morning but we can't get any information.  They just tell us that the legal office is slow but they won't give us their telephone number. They haven't a clue about customer service.  I can't wait to get our money back and to cut all ties with them.  We decided to pursue the refund ourselves because we felt the Spanish solicitor recommended to us by the selling agent was not at all impartial.  Make sure you get a solicitor who is totally independent from PW.  Hope you get your money back soon.  I'll let you know if/when we get ours.

Hi Holly,

I am waiting to hear from a friend who is working in Murcia so she can get me the name of a good solicitor, would you like me to let you have the details?

I am sick of waiting to, they are a total waste of space.

Hi Alyson.  That is amazingly quick.  Your solicitor is worth every cent!  Thanks for offering the solicitor's details, but I won't use one now because I feel I am almost at the end of the process.  I got a phone call from the PW help desk this afternoon and they promised the money would be in our account by Tuesday.  Did you get a full refund or was there a deduction for bank charges?   We are buying an apartment in the Algarve so we will use that money to reduce the mortgage.

Hi Holly,

I'm gald you are near the end to. When I spoke to Customer service she did say that they wouldn't let her tell people they were getting a refund if they weren't really doing it, so it is looking good.

They payed the full amount in, but the bank took 401 euros, my solicitor says to cut and run as we have made quite a bit on the exchange rate.

I'm just glad it's over at last.

Good luck with the Algarve.

Regards

Alyson.
