Hi

We are just back from attending our first community meeting for our Phase 2 townhouse.  It was a very interesting experience, especially as we were the only Brits in attendance!  It was reassuring to discover so many Spanish owners and to discover other owners sharing our views.

Basically everyone still agreed that Roda will one day be the quality resort that we all bought into.  However everyone agreed that the running costs are high and the lack of facilities is a disgrace, and the news from Roda that the hotel is delayed until 2009/2010 a great blow.  We agreed to formally voice our views to Roda but felt it would be very useful to have contact with other communities to see if they shared our views and if a group representation could be considered.

It seems that there are now three communities on Phase 1 and three on Phase 2, all of which are separate legal entities due to the land parcels.

Has anyone else been to a community meeting or are you planning to go?  What did you think?  Are there any Phase 1 owners that would like to share their experiences?  Is there any interest in forming an unofficial owners group outside the communities?

We are sold on the Roda concept but it seems our three year wait for our house will now be added to by at least another two years for the promised facilities!  Add that to the high runings costs and the edge has somewhat been taken off the joy of our investment.

It is very early days for the resort but that makes it possible for us collectively to affect the future.  Anyone any thoughts?

Regards
DennisB

Hi Dennis

We are on Phase 1 apartments and we hope to go to the AGM of our community in the next fortnight.

I wonder what you feel that an "unofficial owners group" could achieve given that it would operate without advice from the administrators and without a mandate etc???

I  just fail to see the point of another group of owners with no real lobbying power or credence.

When we bought off plan (at a price reflective of the facilities on site) we knew that the hotel would not be in place until 2009 and so if it is a few months later it is not a major deal. We are very happy with our apartment and the pools, gardens etc are all in place. The development is shaping up to be the five star resort we know it can be.

The new clubhouse is more or less on time and is fantastic and should be open very soon which will greatly enhance the development and the golf course gets better every time we play it.

Roda, will I agree, be a great place to be and in relation to other developments in the area it is second to none. I do not feel that there is a lot to be gained by moaning about everything as the whole point of having a place in Spain is to get away from all of the negativity of life in the UK.

LP

Dennis, I would like to meet you and shake you by the hand!  At last someone on this site who focuses on what Roda has achieved.  We also are thrilled with our property and every time we visit, the development gets better.  Mike

LP - i do agree with you about being positive and that Roda is/will be fantastic.  We are totally sold on the resort and no one can convince us otherwise.    We have just returned from a wonderful 2 weeks staying at our apartment and it was a real tonic for both of us.  Unfortunately, we are now back at work and the gloss of our break is fading! rapidly so I am heading for the Ryanair website as soon as I have finished posting.

I think sometimes that we forget about timescales.  We bought into the Roda dream when it was just a portacabin and a flat field in 2004 and although it seemed a long time at the time, we completed last January and we have now owned for over a year.    To see what has been built is fantastic and to say we are thrilled with our purchase is an understatement.  Of course there will be snags and problems - aren't there always with new property?  Its par for the course (excuse my little joke).

However, it doesn't hurt to be part of a community that cares and I think this is what Dennis is saying.  We want the best from our investment and sometimes we just have to see through the rosy glow - so if a few owners got together from time to time to discuss things that are worrying them then what is the harm.?

What do others think?
