This is my first post so bear with me! Brand new to this site and only heard about it when a fellow owner at Roda told us when we visited Roda recently. We had a super time in Murcia -our only previous visit to the region had been in July 2005 when whilst on a 4 day inspection tour we purchased an apartment on Phase 3. We rented a Phase 1 apartment so we could experience the development and see it's progress first hand. We have now been told by Roda that our apartment will not now complete until approx July 08 - a year late! (ours is on the part of Phase 3 that was started last - quite near the 18th tee.) We did expect delays and to be honest are not too fussed as we are in no real hurry to part with the rest of the cash! I understand the delays don' t suit everyone! The resort was quiet and on arrival quite unappealing as most of the security shutters were down when we arrived and it gave the place a very unlived-in and empty feel. Our first impression of the apartment was that it was a lot smaller than we had anticipated, although finished to a high standard. However our initial feelings quickly disappeared and I must say that we thorougly enjoyed our stay in the resort. We all enjoyed the Mar Menor beaches, there was a great choice of restaurants merely a short drive from the resort, we did a fair bit of exploring the area (Murcia City, Cartagena, Torrevieja to obtain our NIEs and much more), I even managed a game of golf (I am a bit of a hacker!) with a patient fellow owner and his son from Glasgow.  All in all we had a relaxing but entertaining and varied family holiday. Once the hotel, commercial centre and the rest of the phases are all complete and occupied I think this will be a fantastic resort in a superb location. While we know there will no doubt be issues and problems along the way we are satisfied that we made the right decision to purchase here and I am very excited at the prospect of having our own place here.

Hello AEwing

How is phase 3 looking now?  We have a villa opposite the 17th and we too were told there is now a delay till July next year.  However, Roda told us today that the air conditioning is being installed and looking at the construction photos on Roda's website progress seems to be happening.  I was hoping it might be much sooner.  There seems to be some different parts to phase 3 (part A and B) so perhaps it is just luck of the drawer!  Glad you liked it though.  Did you rent via another owner privately or through Calidona? Having stayed at the Belfry a few times and heard about the reputation of the new Manager - the future should be fantastic at Roda.  Look forward to meeting you as one of our neighbours.

Mrs H

Mrs H

Thanks for the response.  Yes Phase 3 does appear to be being built in 2 seperate sub-phases - ours is at the tail end for completion, although we have had different responses from Roda when we have asked them.  Construction on the larger part of P3 is at an advanced stage and it is all taking shape nicely. We rented our apartment privately from a phase 1 owner direct. We found her details on the owners direct website. I too have stayed at the Belfrey several times although I haven't heard anything about the new manager coming to Roda. I would certainly recommend hopping on a plane and sampling Roda for yourself - the pictures on their website are great but you can't beat the real thing!

There are some news articles somewhere because the guy who was the General Manager at the Belfry for over 14 years has relocated his family over to Spain to take over at Roda.  This was one of the reasons we bought because as De Vere's first project abroad it had to be a success.

I am going to ask customer services again for the latest completion date on our property.  Hopefully we will be able to visit Roda again shortly.
