Info needed please

Hi all,

wheres the best place to buy furniture for a new apartment ?

was thinking of ikea but not sure if they deliver. We are going to murcia in September to start decorating our apartment and would like to get most of it done during a week. We are going to be hiring a estate car so hopping that we can pick up most things in this.    We need beds, sofa, table and lots of accessories.

also are there appartments to rent on the complex so we could stay there for a few days until our place is liveable ?

whats the cheapest airline to use for regular trips to murcia

Hi Louise,

We've found DFS in San Javier to be really good. Though I suspect they're not as cheap as Ikea in Murcia, we bought several large items on one trip over which they hung onto then delivered - on time - the next time we could get across.

Not only that but they assembled them and took away our broken armchair too! We'll definitely be going back.

Regarding flights, we use 'Skyscanner' as it obviously varies when/where you're flying from etc... but Ryaniar into Alicante usually works out the best. The drive is obviously much further than from San Javier airport but there's a much better selection of flights and collecting hire cars etc.. seems more straightforward - up to now at least...

There are definitely apartments for rent on the development but I'm afraid I don't know the details - I'm sure you'll get one two replies / offers of rentals.

Great to hear of another apartment sold on La Tercia so welcome.

Furniture - DFS _ Paul is an extremely nice bloke and will arrange delivery to suit you.  He does have  a wide range of everything.  Second hand furniture is an option also - I do know of some good quality furniture that may be an option also.

Ikea - you can get this delivered and there are services who will do the shopping for you, deliver and set it up and even make up flat packs.  Just do a search for Ikea delivery services in Murcia.  You can get absolutely everything there - great shop.

Flights - Ryanair flies from many UK airports as you know directly into Murcia and once you have picked up your hire car then it is only a 15 minute ride out to resort.  Easyjet also flies into Murcia.  

Apartment rental - there are many owners who rent out - have a look on some of hte holiday sites or go to murciagolf.co.uk and put an ad in the apartment wanted section in the classifieds - I am sure you will get lots of answers.

Bits and pieces - Carrefour, Eroski, Casa and Jysk all good shops.  Linens and towels at Yorkshire linen in San Javier and there are always the markets where you can get also buy towels and curtains etc.

Thanks for all the information at least we have some idea of where to go now when we arrive

just wondered a couple of more things , can you buy a digital box or a tv with intergrated cable ? Would be nice to have English channels

also I know you have to drive out of the resort to restaurants/bars etc is there a  local cab service that are good and reliable

Yes you can buy a digibox - there is an onsite service which you can subscribe to - Cablevision - and taxis - Balsicas Taxis - but if you go to places like the Jaipur Palace, the Alhambra and other places if there is a party of 4 or more they will send a complimentary transport to take you and return you to La Tercia.  We are all quite well organised.  They will pick you up at the commercial centre and return you there in an evening.
