Hello everyone.

I'm flying out on the 11th Feb for a good look around the Polaris resorts with particular interest in your community at Terrazas.

I've realised it works out cheaper buying a home for my family holidays in Murcia rather than the usual 2 week hotel jolly. Add in some ill health not helped by Jan and Feb Uk weather meaning I could see myself resident for 4 months at the very least.

Where your advice would be gratefully received is how occupied is the resort? I admit I wonder what happens if Polaris do expire in terms of who then manages the developments. And where should I avoid on the development?

I expect my questions are far from new but any feedback on the suitability of my aim would be gratefully received.

Best regards

Rob

Hi Rob

My wife and I will be flying out on 16th Feb and have owned our apartment  on phase 2 of terrazas for a couple of years now. Firstly I must say we really love it out there because its peaceful and relaxing. It is not the place to buy if you enjoy being in the "hustle and bustle" but rather nice if you like to chill out. There are plenty of bars and restaurants within easy driving distance and it's always nice to come back home to the serenity. There is a bar open now which is a great place to meet up with other residents for a drink and something to eat.

In my opinion it will take many years for the development to look like the model you will see when you visit Polaris offices and it may actually never be fully completed until the financial outlook improves with the Spanish economy. You have the big advantage that you will be buying in a depressed market and enjoy big discounts to the prices the majority of people have paid so your downside risk is considerably reduced. The only diference Polaris World makes is how many more blocks will be completed and if the town centre and other facilities get developed. In terms of existing properties Resortalia manages them and all the infrastructure for which we all pay quarterly fees so that will continue even if Polaris goes bust. The golf course is also managed independently of Polaris. At the prices you can buy a finished apartment for now it's a no brainer and you will not regret it as long as you do not mind the quietness.

February is generally quiet with the maximum number of occupied properties usually occuring July and August. Phase 1 has more families and young children and is a better bet if you have youngsters of your own. Otherwise I would personally buy one of the penthouses on phase 2. Hope that helps a little and maybe I will see you at Coppolas Bar if you are still out when we arrive. Good luck with whatever decision you make.

Sunil and Sunita

Hi,

Places you can try for short trips.

The two Intercontinental hotels one on La Torre resort & the other one on the Mar Menor resort.

The other place you could try for a choice of hotels is Los Alcazares, which is only  a 10 to 17 minute drive to 5 of the Polaris World resorts.

We have stayed in a hotel called the 525 in Los Alcazares when we were looking around the resorts.

Another one is the Hotel Cristina also in Los Alcazares.

You could just book Bed & Breakfast as there are plenty of restaurants in that area.

We have a penthouse apartment on Terrazas & go over every 8 weeks & stay for 10 to 14 days at a time.

We plan to stay a month at a time from April on.

Las Terrazas de La Torre is the complex we choose in 2007 because we knew it would not have as many properties on it as some of  the other resorts.

My advise would be to take a good look at all 6 Polaris resorts to see which one you would prefer.

     Regards

                      Clieve

Hi Rob

We bought for the same reason family of 5 and holidays are so expensive so we thought it would pay for its self in due course. We bought a year ago and it's had plenty of use we are on phase 1. Ground floor so the kids can run in and out. Also not right on top of the swimming pool in case it gets busy and then u have all that traffic outside your terrace. Kids were out there last year for the full 6 weeks and loved it plenty of friends and as mentiond the bar is now open and a bonus.

We looked at all the resorts and liked that this was quiet but close to everything and best price. The process of buying was easy with a good solicitor. We bought bank repo "sold as seen" never dealt with Polaris . Touch wood no problems. I don't think you can bank on making ends meet with rentals ect we bought based on the fact the mortgage costs us per year the same as a two week holiday once a year.

Hope it all goes well enjoy (-;
