I have learnt from one of the other block presidents that we will lose our tv service (provided via a a2ztelecommunicasiones) at the end of this year. Apparently the fees were previously paid as part of our Community Fees.

I have contacted Resotalia and they have confirmed this is the case.

If anyone has any good ideas for a replacement service perhaps they can share on this site.

I'll see what options I can find when I go out at New Year.

Outside of what is available on site in other words what you already use, it would seem to us that you have 3 options

1 Have your own dish installed, we have a 1 meter dish which picks up all the UK free to air channels but we may now lost channel 5 because of the change in the satalite (you will need to be able to site a dish on your property) this cost around 300 Euros

2. Tele-east which runs off a small dish which can be mounted out of sight and can be used by more than one apartment.

3. Nortons which use the same kind of system as Tele-east.

Both 2 and 3 cost around twenty Euros a month plus an installation change.

Do you have an internet connection because if you do, you could try www.filmon.com and you can watch english TV via that

Hope this helps

 Hi Bryan,

I'm not sure where we stand with installing our own dishes as I guess it could detract from the look of the site. I'll ask our site management.

But thanks for highlighting these options. As we're only out for a few weeks each year looking for something cost effective.

Will probably see if there's any communal solutions being considered and get this sorted after our visit in the New Year.

 Hi all,

just noticed this in the last Resortalia Newsletter... maybe a bit of hope ...

"After receiving confirmation in writting from Polaris Worlds about the installation of the antennas in all the buildings early 2013 (we hope it is during the first half of January 2013), we have spoken with A2Z with the aim to avoid the TV signal disconnection from 1-01-2013 because of the finishing of the contract, and they are going to give a bit of time to the installation and connection of the antennas. "

Check out tele-east not sure what their prices are at the moment but sure it is better than A2Z and they offer free installation.

The TV aerials being supplied by Polaris World are for phase 1 blocks. To the best of my knowledge Phase 2 blocks allready have TV aerials on the roof of their blocks, it is just a matter of connecting the wires up, Resortalia are looking into doing this without waiting for the Aerials from Polaris. Please note this connection will only provide Spanish TDT channels .

I spoke to a young lady at a2z today (00340902508460)  and she said that individual owners could contract with a2z for supply of International television channels on a month by month basis at a rate of Euros 45 per month (presumeably plus IVA), some recabling would be needed but this could be done quickly. This gives an option (expensive) for owners who are only out a few times a year for a couple of weeks at a time and have allready purchased  a a2z digibox.
