Couldn't care less if Paramount opened or not.

We have a resort that is on the up and if they paint the buildings and fill the lakes then my glass will be full.

I paid someone to paint my apartment last year and looks as good as new.

Like most I pinned a lot of hope on Paramount coming to fruition because this time last year I thought that was the only way the resort would develop. But with the recent improvements like the new businesses opening in Al Kasar and the clubhouse, I actually think it's starting now to develop nicely in its own right.

So I'm not too bothered about Paramount much now either. It would still be a nice bonus if it went ahead, but for me it certainly wouldn't be a disaster any more if it didn't.

I agree with you Cappielow, but here's hoping the businesses are still operating after a couple of winters.  I take my hat off to these brave people, and they deserve every support owners and visitors can muster.  If Paramount comes up with the goods then these businesses should thrive and it'll be no more than they deserve.  Good luck guys.

Agree with posts below - well done brave people. Hope to support you in Nov.

As for Paramount, why would an oversea's investor invest a billion euros'  whilst risk of Spain leaving the euro. Could you not then get in for much less one Spain has devalued pesatas?

Rightly said, we need all the new businesses to survive the harsh reality of winter.

Was the project supposed to commence in October?

see the flags are still there flapping arround.. someone has pinched one of them though and trying to sell it as the paramount that never was.

bit early for that but hey they could be collectors items in the future.

I think Paramount will happen, but not in the next 5 years. Unfortunately it would spoil the area in my opinion and take it from low key Spanish paradise to cheesy American tat in one go.

Unfortunately, Darren, I think you will have to wait Until it does arrive for you to be able to sell your property at a reasonable price. JF

Paramount in Kent, Paramount in Murcia. Considering there are currently NO Paramount parks anywhere in the world, they seem to generate a lot of interest.

It’s all to do with cleaver marketing. I have some land in my garden, I could approach Paramount and say I am building a park, if it ever gets built, can I pay you royalties and use the name of some of your old films. If I deliver a good pitch I am sure Paramount would agree. From their point of view, this is a no brainer.  There is no outlay from them and they stand to make money for nothing if my park ever gets built.

I then go to the financial markets and tell them I am looking for Funding for Paramount Bolton (sounds better than Wilkesland!).

What I am saying here is that taking an option on some baron Spanish land in the middle of nowhere and getting Paramount to agree to take money from you if the park is built, takes very little money. The difficulty comes when you try to get investment to actually build your proposed park.

It will be hard to get anyone to invest in Paramount Murcia, when you consider Spain is in a lot of financial trouble and will almost certainly require a full EU bail out soon. They may even ditch the Euro completely. Add that to the fact that the country has almost over 20% unemployment with riots and protests in many cities would you invest?  Also look at Spain’s 2 biggest Parks Terra Mitica (which Paramount did once own) and Port Aventura  both have been a financial disaster, yet both of these are located near large tourist areas (Benidorm & Barcelona).

I am sure that Paramount Murcia will never happen, weather it was all a plan to try and boost tourism and property sales in the area, or whether there was actually an intention to build the park is something I don’t know. What I do know is that Faulky is correct; it will be a long time till I can sell for a decent return.

On a positive note “I love my little place in the sun”, “Condado is progressing well”, “I prefer the unspoilt nature of Condado”, “Who wants Corporate American Tat?”, “I would much Prefer a peaceful Vino on my Balcony”, I don’t believe any of these statements, but like to predict some of the clichés that will be used in the response to this post!

Off you go.

I agree with Darren on this one. I don’t think Paramount will happen, I never did.

But when I say I love Condado and the surrounding areas as it is, I’m not lying. I bought about 18 months ago, Condado was much more quiet back then, I knew exactly what I bought into. I have just spent 8 days at Condado, the 9th stay in 18 months. Once again I had one of my best holidays ever, better than the summer holiday as it was quiet and we had the pool to our selves
. I got to visit all my favorite restaurants, not on site, but I visited a few of those as well.

If I wanted clichés I would have bought in the US, they have built a whole country and culture on just that. Not to my taste at all. I would never have bought an apartment close to Disneyland or Paramount anywhere if I planned to use it myself. Not even in Bolton.
