Hi All,

You may think I've gone slightly mad by asking this question but are we entitled to use the beach club at roda?

We do already own a property on Roda but i have a potential Corvera guest who has asked if they can use the beach  club, seeing as the two resorts are owned by the same company?

Any feedback would be great

Look forward to hearing from you all soon!

That's an interesting one.

We own at Corvera and heard we could use the Roda Beach Club as Calidona Customers, but when we asked in the office at Corvera mid- August we were told by them that the Beach had been sold off and that it was now open to the general public at around €10 per day?

We have not been able to verify this, I'm afraid.

Hi Carrington

That's an interesting reply, I have since emailed a contact at Roda to enquire if this is the case, as soon as i hear i will let you know the outcome.

Would have been nice of them to inform owners that the sale had taken place!

Regards

Leah

The Beach Club is being managed by Collados (group who are running the Clubhouse In Roda) and has not been sold off.

It is open to the general public with beds on the beach available to rent but not around the pool which is exclusively for the use of Roda owners and their guests.

We have been on several occasions in the last month and it is fantastic this year as the catering both in the restaurant and at the pool are working well with prices to suit all budgets and kids catered for.

It is definitely worth a day out but if you are not a Roda owner you will have to pay for towel hire, bed rental etc. If you are a Roda owner you will be issued with an arm band which identifies you to the staff.

I hope that this is helpful.

Moira

As far as I know the Beach Club is exclusively for Roda owners as its use forms part of our contract of sale, so if Corvera owners wish to use it, I imagine that they would have to pay the same as other members of the general public for rental of beds on the beach etc.

Obviously this can be confirmed by contacting the office in Corvera or Roda.

When we originally purchased at Corvera we were told that Corvera owners would be able to use the Beach Club at Roda and Roda owners would be able to use the Country Club facilities at Corvera.  We were also told there would be daily shuttle buses between the two resorts and to and from Murcia city.  Like many other things none of these have materialised.....

Hi.

We were also told the same story which we now believe to be untrue.

 Difi and moll

You don't think they lied to us when we put our deposits down do you ??

And we've been assured all along by Steve that the broken promises were due to the global downturn

All this talk about lies and deceit.

Do you guys HONESTLY think that Calidona never intended to build either hotel and spa at Corvera and Roda or have DeVere run them and the beach club or even follow Roda and Corvera with Ballabona developement ? Personally, I think back in 2005-2007 when everything was on the up they firmly believed (as we all did, yes! you included) that the world we lived in was rich and getting richer, property values and demand were still on the rise and what could go wrong? The worlds economy has everso slightly imploded, that's what could go wrong! Spain and Spanish builders have (mistakenly in hindsight) depended on mainly British tourists and investors for their economic growth, just as our banks and insurance companies etc depend so heavily on the USA. Well swineflu may not have reached pandemic but i'm afraid econoflu has, we  have all played our parts in spreading this economic problem with our inflated house valuations and the banks' frivolous lending.

Personally when I get the flu, I swallow a couple of tablets and get back to work but if anyone wants to lay in bed and blame somebody else for giving them the germs then that's your choice, just be man/woman enough to accept that you too were part of the problem.

So why have they not got planning permission to build the hotel if they intended to build it?

Why tell us they had "All the planning permissions" in place to build the resort back in Sept 2005?

Possibly for similar reasons that the designated residential area behind my home in UK is now designated industrial. Councils change agreements as much as anybody else in this world. You can only plan with the information you have at that time.

I do believe the facilaties will come but the shuttle bus and being part of Rhoda Beach Club were all lies used in the sales pitch back in 2005.When we signed last year we put the question to Pablo only to be told this would not be.

Steve, your loyalty to the cause is unwavering as always. I can see that you have to believe it's going to end well because the alternative view of us on the 'Dark Side" is unthinkable after you've completed.

I recently bought a new Volkswagen and am now the proud and happy owner of a VW Golf Match. However 5 months ago I ordered a VW Passat CC, auto with sat nav and leather. A few weeks ago the salesman rang me to say that due to the double dip recession they had ceased production of the Passat and were offering me the Golf instead. Well, I was fuming and said:

"No way, I want the fully loaded Passat that I've put a deposit down on"

"Look Sir, you can't blame Volkswagen for this recession, you should have thought of this when you ordered"

"Well I don't want it, I want my deposit back"

"Sir, you have to take the Golf otherwise we will send you threatening letters, take you to court and seize your house in the UK"

"OK then, how much is it"

"The same as the Passat"

"WHAT'

"Yes Sir, you pay the same but when all this blows over we will build your Passat...........honestly"

"Well I guess it's not your fault, it's those bloody bankers.........where do I sign"

So I now have the Golf and it's not that bad really, I've lost thousands of pounds on it but it's spacious and very quiet. One thing though..........Whenever I get in it it's full of flies. VW have assured me that they will sort that out next week.

Dave

PS Steve, don't say the analogy doesn't work, it's exactly the same.

OK Dave

I totally agree with you. I too believe that Calidona/Corvera must do more but without people completing and without banks lending they are without funds to deliver the clubhouse. Without a company such as DEVere in the position and willing to take on a hotel and spa for 200 guests per year they would be stupid to borrow money if it were available to build a 5star hotel. Remember Calidona were only cash-rich a couple of years ago because they took out builders mortgages to build most of the properties in phases 1 and 2. Until the people who signed those contracts complete on their part these debts cannot be settled to release money for further investment in amenities. Remember some (British included) people thought that they were going to make a fortune out of flipping properties in the early days and put deposits down on up to 18 properties. They have since gone bust and the deposits have been used up in interest to the banks. Hence the number of re-sale properties available from Corvera, most of which will still only turn-in a very small profit when sold.

If you do get your deposit back it's probably best for you to look into a company called rooms for your next investment. They sell rooms in a 5 star luxury hotel in the middle of London where there is an abundance of night-life and shops and when you're not using it you get a percentage of their takings on the letting of it. As for me all I wanted was a nice contemporary apartment on a decent golf course away from the madding crowd of the costa's but still within reach, not to far from an airport. Throw in a pool and some sunshine plus the time to relax and use it and I'm happy. Yes! I'd like a bar to meet up with friends and neighbours on the odd evening and perhaps a bit of live entertainment now and again. Now that I have completed, fulfilled my side of the contract and therefor have more legal standing, these are the things that I shall be pushing for. I would sooner have 800 properties full on site than 1800 half empty and falling into dis-repair.

Back to the beach club, been there, done that and wouldn't bother spending the time on the trip again. prefer our own pool thanks!

OK Steve, and all I wanted was a nice peaceful home in which to spend my retirement, away from the Costa, on a relaxing development where I could find lots of things to do, go to the spa, gym, swim all year round in an indoor pool, shop, etc. while my other half was playing golf, before meeting him for a drink or meal in the clubhouse or one of the other bars or restaurants....   And Corvera are not providing what I was promised - or probably not in my lifetime!

And by the way Paul, Corvera are still hanging on to one helluva of a chunk of my money so I've every right to post on this forum.
