Has everybody received an email today from the administrator telling us that there is an annual meeting scheduled for next saturday the 29th june?   It has an attachment with a proxy vote form on it also.   I cannot get on the private forum for some reason so am posting on here.  I am pleased that i will actually be there this time, although what will actually be achieved i dont know.  Anybody else going to be there also?

We have just received the same e-mail timed at 17.17 today, regarding the meeting on Satuday 19th June.

The date at the bottom of the agenda is 31st May.  Why has it taken 10 days to e-mail us?        Is this a deliberate ploy to make sure that very few owners attend and that Prienesur get their way on everything?

We have no chance of getting time off work and finding suitable flights at this short notice.

I have also received the same e-mail and no way with such notice can i make the meeting. So annoying as I will be out two weeks later. It seems very odd and that we are given such short notice to attend. I suspect as you say jmtwsm a ploy to keep the attendendance of ownwers as low as possible. I hope if they start chargeing us community fees that the owners of all the empty apartments pay their share too. All so frustrating and annoying. Anyone with any legal knowledge attending!.

I personally think we should be questioning the legality of this......can they just call a meeting a week before and then not send an email to everyone???  Seems odd to me surely they have to give at least 28 days notice????  Unless it is an emergency meeting due to the problems with Caja Sur

I have just wrote to the admistrator saying i am not happy that we have been given such short notice and there is no way i can just dropp things and go to the meeting, a meeting i feel i should be at. I have asked him if he could put the date back a month, may be if a few of us say the same this may happen!. I guess i wont get a reply but i will ask for a meeting with him later on in the month when i am next there. Is there not  a spanish speaking owner who can also protest on our behalf.

What's the difference in advance notice on AGM  and EGM?

Thanks,

Dave.

We have also recieved notification of AGM  and we have requested that if possible the meeting is put back to a later date as it is impossible to arrange flights and alter work commitments in such short time. does anyone know if we all request the meeting to be rescheduled  ,will it still go ahead with only a few people present ,or does there have to be a certain number present to agree policies/ charges etc.  This all seems a bit quick to me ,and being the suspicious type  i wonder if there is a hidden agenda hear.

any feed back on this meeting would be appreciated

Regards

Gary & Sandra

I wrote to the administrator asking for more notice and to reschedule the meeting his reply was that its too late as all notifications have been sent now. I cant go at such short notice. All we can do, is if we are charged community charges then we should press that the developer pays their share of all the unsold apartments, somehow i feel they will wriggle out of that. Pity we dont know the law and conversent with the language and laws.

You can always gift your Proxy vote to someone who will be there in attendance. A Proxy should be in the AGM Papers

Anyone uanble to attend the meeting can send their proxy vote to Suzanne who is flying out there on Friday.  She is happy to take any proxy votes out with her.

I am feeling that it may be a good idea for anyone not attending to sign the proxy vote form for someone out there to vote for them, looking at the agenda it seems things could be moving to the formation of a community of owners.

I'm still waiting to even receive an email! My understanding is that they have to give at least a month's notice and that there has to be a quorum (usually two-thirds of present members) for any votes to become policy. They have an automatic quorum though, I suspect, because they own so many apartments. However, if we all give our votes to a proxy, it will at least give us a greater voice.

I'd like to know exactly how many apartments have been sold. I.E. Exactly what their majority is. I'm working this weekend, no chance of time off.

I'm thinking of asking my solicitor to check the legality of this meeting.

Margo

I sent you an email yesterday with a form attached...if you did not receive, then email me and I will resend.  like you I have other engagements that cannot be cancelled at such short notice.  Typical, just like a No.73 bus nothing comes for ages and then three come all at once!

Thanks Tracey, I have got it. One other point. Do we each have an individual vote, or is it just one vote per apartment?  We're not sure whether to fill in 2 forms. M

Hi Margo

It's only one vote per apartment, and it's only those actually named on the Title Deeds who can vote.

For example, if it's husband & wife, or two partners, only one vote I'm afraid.

As we can't be there, would anyone mind trying to find out for us exactly how many apartments have been sold please? I'm guessing that will be easy to find out, since they will have to provide various officers of thecommittee a list of owners they need to contact. It's lookin like a committee might be formed this time. If no-one is aware, there is a locked site for Arenal owners which is proving to be very useful to us if we need to talk confidentially. It might possibly be useful in the the initial setting up of a committee. Anyone who doesn't have it, please PM me and I will pass it on. Margo
