hello everyone

we, as a lot of you are on the teleast system of paying €20 monthly for a rebroadcast system

there are very few channels on it that we actually watch and a number of other owners have imtimated the same,

what is happening with re broadcast companies here is unclear, 2 have been done for trading malpractise recently and although all those remaining state their legality so did the 2 that have gone,

basically we are paying a fee for what is free to air satellite,

for this reason, I am trying to put together a quote for the installation of community satellite dishes and that as many people as are interested would plug into this, the installation would be done by a recognised, registered company who provide gaurantees and warranties for their work and equipment, I am meeting with their engineer next week and he will do a site survey and prepare a quote, he has given me an indication that he needs at least 10 people interested per community to make it feasible and that the approximate cost may be arounf €250 per house, this is around equal to 1 years subsciption to teleast,

this will be a once off cost and there will be no further fee's once the system is up and running, the details of the quote are not certain yet and I have no further information but what I am asking for is that you indicate if you are interested in this or not, so that we know have we the numbers to get it together,

as it is a community system I will only try to organise it for manzana 3 and 4 for the moment, so if you live in either please indicate if you are interested,

based on my experiences with the first 2 communities, I might be persuaded to organise this for the other communities as they are formed

the best way to indicate is to email me at casaeldivino@live.com and put community TV in the title

thanks

Sean

hello all

the TV engineers came today and did a site survey, I should have the quote soon, when I do I´ll post it on here,

they will give various options and what you eventually receive depends on the receiver box that you install, they tell me that the current teleast box will be compatible with the community system,

the main difference will be that this is free once the initial set up is paid and this can never be turned off, we will have somewhere around 250 channels,

as soon as I know more I´ll put it on here

Thanks, Sean.  The why's & wherefore's/ accessibility/legality of satellite channels is something that as new first time owners we are struggling with even though I have tried to read all the various posts on the subject so it will be good to have all the info. necessary to make a decision.

All the best

Sheila & Keith

hello all

would you believe that I am still waiting for that quote, although I have been back to their offices a number of times they seem unable to give it to me,

I have rang around and have now got 2 others who are prepared to come and do a site survey

I would have thought that companies would be falling over themselves to get the business

thanks for your patience and as soon as I have any further info I'll put it on here

Maybe this posting is totally irrelevant to the situation in San Cayetano - if so please ignore me.

But has anyone investigated small individual satellite dishes of the type used by caravanners ? Look for 'satellite for caravans' on Google.   One page with that title has a wealth of information - even giving setting up details for the Alicante region.

Hi JPR

We did all have individual mesh dishes when we completed in March 2007. These were put up in full agreement with Taray & we were then advised that we had to take them down again within 3 or 4 weeks as the LFO would not be granted by the council with individual dishes. A lot of us wasted 100 euros on this as we were then connected onto the main site dishes at no cost, but only if we gave the installer our own mesh dishes !

the quotes are in, the first part is for 5 dishes each to be sited where there is a mast, on manzanna 3 and 4,

the second part is if each manzanna can be run off one dish per manzanna,

I am led to believe that a 1.9 dish require no planning and a 2.4 does but our administrator will be much more informed on this issue

To serve each comms room with its own dish and 2x12 way gigaswitches to
allow 24 customers per comms room(4 spare ports for sky + etc):

1.9 meter dish installed in concrete roof with wideband LNB €995
2x12way gigswitches to allow 24 customers to each comms room €735
3000 meters of gold quality satellite cable €900
1 inline 20db amplifier for each house €20 per house 20 houses €400
1 inline attenuator for each house €20 per house 20 houses €400
labour cost of pulling in all cables to outside each house and full setup
€1700

Total cost €5130(sin iva) per 20 houses with 24 outlets

if requiring a 2.4 meter dish as discussed for RTE 1+2 etc add €275 to
the price of the 1.9

For serving the Whole communities of 2 seperate dishes to 40 houses with 1
dish and the 52 houses with another dish:
40 houses

1.9 meter dish installed in concrete roof with wideband LNB €995
4x12way gigswitches to allow 24 customers to each comms room €1470
6000 meters of gold quality satellite cable €1800
1 inline 20db amplifier for each house €20 per house 40 houses €800
1 inline attenuator for each house €20 per house 40 houses €800
labour cost of pulling in all cables to outside each house and full setup
€3400

Total cost €9265(sin iva) per 40 houses with 48 outlets

if requiring a 2.4 meter dish as discussed for RTE 1+2 etc add €275 to
the price of the 1.9

for the 52 houses

1.9 meter dish installed in concrete roof with wideband LNB €995
5x12way gigswitches to allow 24 customers to each comms room €1837
7500 meters of gold quality satellite cable €2250
1 inline 20db amplifier for each house €20 per house 52 houses €1040
1 inline attenuator for each house €20 per house 52 houses €1040
labour cost of pulling in all cables to outside each house and full setup
€4300

Total cost €11462(sin iva) per 52 houses with 60 outlets

so to cable the whole urbanization with 2 seperate dishes total cost is
€20727.00 and to cable the whole urbanization with 5 dishes  €25650.00
these prices are all sin iva so if your urbanization requires a legal
factura you must add 16% onto the price.

all work comes guaranteed for 2 years for parts and labour to any
breakdowns on the community.

additionally we can provide you with an aftersales service after the 2
years to maintain all the amplifiers and cabling to your community
television system at small yearly fee to your community
