Do PW need access to the property to switch you on?

Once on is it left on until you are connected to the main by the utility company?

Who do I email to get me hooked up?

Thanks

Dan

Dan,

In response, they do not need access, and it will\should remain on, unless they need to turn it off for any specific reason (eg - digging up roads etc.), or general failure.  You need to contact the customer services office, best to give them a weeks notice.

Hi Dan

I e-mailed PW customer services last week to ask for my utilities to be connected so that Steve could get in and fit my lights and Carol could get the builders clean done.  They e-mailed me back pretty quickly to say that they would turn them on that night and that they would stay connected right up until the meters were fitted.  One thing they did say was that whoever is going into your apartment would need to open up all of the stopcocks and flick the fuses down in the box to ensure everything worked o.k. as they wouldn't do this.

Given we are in the Penthouse apartments I was a bit surprised at this as I reckon it will be a while before any meters are fitted here as they are only just completing.  I'll wait and see if they're still on when I'm out in a couple of weeks!!

If you need the e-mail address for PW customer services let me know.

Cheers

Simon

Just a word of warning.

I was out in October and returning home one lunchtime I saw that workers (don't know from where) had plugged an extension lead into my outlet on the patio and were doing work on a neighbouring apartment, cutting doors and shelves.

I didn't mind too much as I was still on builders supply but ensured I found which switch on the fuse board supplied this outlet and turned it off when leaving.

Now that we are moving off builders supply could have got a nasty 'shock' if this continued.

Another word of warning.

Betty and I were on Jardines 1 last week when they changed from builders supply to Iberdrola. The day after the change over we lost our power, 6.30 on a Friday evening and everyone gone for the weekend. To cut a long story short if you run a lot of appliances: cooker, oven, A/C etc you stand a good chance of tripping the power: as there is only a 25 amp breaker in the box. When I asked customer services about this they told me it was because we were all on a standard contract now, which dictates the amount of power available to you. Apparently you can get upgraded but it costs more. As an aside she said "Spanish people know not to run too many appliances at once in case the power trips"

So beware, especially as it is so cold over there at the moment!

Jim

Hi Jim

Thanks for that.

We are not sure whats happening with our utilities at the moment but as we go over mid jan uary It`s good to know. Particulaly as I like to be warm (very warm ) & no doubt would have more than one appliance on at any given time.

Jan

Thats interesting to know Jim thanks.

I just went on Iberdrola website, I couldn't make head n' tail of it but I don't know if this has something to do with what you were talking about?
