So many emails

When we started eyeonspain just over a couple of years ago we were lucky in those days to get a couple of emails every day. It was really quite easy to get back to people quite quickly.

But how things have changed. As the site has become more and more popular we just seem to get inundated with emails all day long. I get in in the morning, open gmail and wooommmph...200 emails. Where the hell did they all come from!

So I spend the next couple of hours trying to respond to most of them. But whilst I'm responding even more emails keep coming in! Aaarrgh. Is it surprising then that I don't seem to get much actual work done these days??

I think I need an email secretary to handle them all. Either that or I change all our email addresses :)

Anyone any other suggestions?

Whoops...it's raining!

I must have spoken too soon on Friday...it's raining today...a lot. I'm glad I managed to get my barbacue going yesterday as it seems the winter weather is finally here now.

I didn't quite manage to get my octopus for my bbq so we just had some of the usual burgers and sausages. But it was good, we had such a sunny weekend, we were sat out chilling in the garden for most of the time. But I think we're paying the price now. It's cold and wet.

I've also started on my diet today. Really need to shed some of those Christmas pounds (actually stones). I'm doing the Atkins diet which is the only one that ever seems to work for me. It's just such a restrictive diet as you soon get fed up of fry-ups every day. It sounds appealing at first but after a few days you soon get a bit tired of it and you really just want a bit of boring toast.

But, I'll see how long I can do it for. I'm aiming for 6 weeks which should shed a couple of stones.

If anyone's got any Atkins friendly food tips I'd really appreciate them.

What great weather

I don't want to rub it in to those that aren't enjoying the same fine weather as us at the moment but is it just me or is the weather TOO good for January?

We had a lot of rain in November and it did look a bit bleak for quite a while. But then in December we had glorious sunshine nearly every day and even now in January, which I always remember as being a cold and wet month, the sun is still shining bright and we can sit outside and have our lunch.

I'm sure this isn't normal but I hope it continues into the weekend as I've just bought a brand new BBQ so that I can do my barbecued octopus...you have to try it!!

Mind you, it's not hot enough to swim yet. You'll only find some brave (or mad) English in the sea or the Scotts.

Enjoy your weekend...must go now and get my charcoal.

But it's free!

Just have to get this one off my chest today. I got a really aggressive email from a "lady" today really irate that she couldn't log on to the website. It was quite a nasty email saying that "it's expensive to use the internet in UK".

What?? I replied very politely asking her for some more details about her problem so that I could help her out. I also mentioned that there is no need for such aggression, a polite email to us is enough for us to do our best to help, after all it is a free service that we offer so we can't be "there" all the time.

Anyway, she turns round and tells me that it's because of us that she has a phone line that costs her money (should I be flattered?). And she was still being agressive towards me, with no further details of her actual problem!!!

What is it with some people? We do our best but for some it's obviously just not good enough!

P.S. I haven't responded to her email again!

Fancy a free trip to Spain?

Free trip to Spain! What's the catch I hear you say?

Well of course there's a catch....you have to take a camera crew with you!

The BBC asked us to post the following for them:

---------------

BBC ONE's Real Story with Fiona Bruce is looking for people who are searching for property to buy in Spain.

The programme plans to take the househunters to Spain for a few days and Fiona will show you around a few properties, discussing what you need to think about before you make a purchase.

Anyone interested needs to contact the BBC urgently as the team are filming in the January period - either next week or the week after.

If you are interested in taking part in this programme, please contact Lizz Brown on:

* Phone: 0161 244 3930
* email: lizz.brown@bbc.co.uk

-------------

So, if you're looking for property in Spain and don't mind taking some advice and appearing on TV then get in touch with Lizz.

By the way, if you do get to go on TV, do you mind just mentioning Eye on Spain when you get a chance? ;) THANKS

It's my birthday

33. That's all I'm going to say about that number!

I'm not really working today, I thought I'd take my birthday off. Spent the morning sitting in the garden reading my paper and smoking a cigar (you'd think I was 63 not 33!). The sun was shining, I could see the boats in the sea....it was great. What better way to spend a birthday morning?

I've got some friends coming round later for a little "celebration". I'm not really one to celebrate my birthday. I think it goes back to when I was young and we never had any money after Christmas so my birthday was always a bit "quiet". But my better half has arranged a little get-together so it should be nice.

Anyway, best get back to relaxing a bit more.

We've moved again

I’ve been really busy past couple of weeks, what with all the Christmas festivities and the fact that we’ve also moved house. We now have a house on the beach!

It’s truly amazing. Houses on the beach are quite rare as most developers seem to build beach front apartments. But our house, which is a large townhouse, is on a small urbanisation on the beach front.

I have to say that living so close to the beach is wonderful. We’ve also been blessed with some of the most gorgeous January weather so we’ve been able to make the most of our new garden and the beach and sea views. The kids are in their element, living in apartment is fine but with kids space becomes a huge issue so having the garden is great for them.

I’ll post some pics soon so you can see where we are now. Must go now and top up that tan!

New Year's Eve

Hello 2007...let's hope my blog posts improve this year!

We had a geat time welcoming in 2007. We went round to some freinds, Jo and Gary's house in Marbella to celebrate the New Year. It was the usual routine of over-eating, over-drinking, over-singing (yes, we did karaoke too) and finally got to sleep at about 4 in the morning. I sort of lost the next day recovering from my "resaca". Oh well, it was worth it and we had a great time.

Now we just sit and wait for the next "party" for the "Three Kings" on the 6th of January which is the main Christmas celebration here. To be honest, I think we've already done enough partying....roll on the 7th....
