Description

GORGEOUS RURAL APARTMENT WITH POOL AND SUNSET VIEWS!

A very spacious (65 square metres or 700 square feet), one bedroom, well-equipped, self-catering holiday apartment with 8m x 4m swimming pool with Roman steps, situated in a 5 hectare olive grove, 5 minutes drive from the picturesque white village of Algodonales. The apartment has a separate bedroom with a choice of a king-size bed (180×190) or twin beds (90×190); a large en-suite bathroom with natural stone walk-in shower; open plan kitchen & living room with wood burner; and private patio with barbecue. Both the lounge and bedroom areas have ceiling fans; and the lounge area has a wood-burning stove, ideal for the winter months. Situated below the main house, the apartment has private access & parking.

The space

The apartment is new, modern and spacious, with stunning sunset views and views over the pool from the terrace. The pool is a real treat, available all year! It is big enough for a ´proper´ swim, as well as having wide Roman steps on which to relax. The area down to the apartment and pool is paved with natural stone, and there is a large stone-paved area next to the pool with a sunshade and pool loungers.

The natural environment is beautiful, with mountains, bird life, clear skies, and plenty of opportunity for walking, cycling, climbing, bird-watching, paragliding and stargazing. We regularly have kestrels, griffon vultures and Bonelli´s and booted eagles flying overhead - and we see paragliders flying with the vultures most afternoons. We often hear nightingales and tawny and little owls at night. Our night skies are fantastic! And our sunsets, particularly during the winter months, are spectacular!

Guest access

Guests are welcome to walk anywhere amongst our 5 hectares of olive trees. The area down to the apartment and pool is paved, and there is a large natural stone, paved area next to the pool with a sunshade and pool loungers. The apartment, with a private entrance, and the terrace outside the apartment, are for the sole use of our guests.

The local area

Our closest (and only visible) neighbour doesn´t live on the property; apart from that, we are surrounded by olive trees and beautiful views. There are walks from the property, including to Algodonales, and as we´re situated at the northern edge of the Sierra de Grazalema, there is plenty opportunity for exploring and walking in magnificent natural landscapes! Algodonales, our local village which is 5 km away, nestles under the rocky crags of the Sierra de Lijar mountain; there are several other pretty white hillside villages within 25 km to visit. The Via Verde de la Sierra can be accessed 15 km from the property, as can the local dam, the Presa de la Zahara, where swimming and water sports are available in the summer months. Further afield, Ronda is 35 km from Algodonales, and Jerez, Cadiz, Seville, Malaga and a range of picturesque Mediterranean beaches are all accessible for day trips.

Interaction with guests

We live on the property: our house is above the apartment. We are therefore available to provide help, recommendations about the local area and insights into special places guests can visit. However, we´re also conscious that some people wish to escape while on holiday, so the level of interaction with us will be determined by our guests.

Other things to note

We live in a rural area, on a working olive grove; our neighbours also have olive trees. Consequently, there will be times when guests will hear sounds associated with ground preparation and olive harvesting. We have 6 chickens who can be noisy in the morning when they are laying eggs - although as they are free-range, they are mostly content exploring and digging in the soil. We do hear dogs on neighbouring properties bark at times, and we do occasionally hear goats across the valley. On a positive, we often hear nightingales and tawny and little owls at night!

Please also be aware that some spaces are shared: the pool and large parking area are shared with the owners (a married couple). However, as far as possible, we avoid using the pool when guests are there.
