Torre Pacheco is also closing. When i was over at Easer I took my letter to the branch there and the guy behind the desk said as I had a mortgage with them all my accounts would be transferred automatically to Murcia and I didn't have to do anything. He said the Mazarron branch was also closing. This week I got another letter asking me to go into the branch! Left hand right hand. Like previous poster, I am now waiting for all my payments in May to bounce!

 To Condado De Alhama..

· Leave airport and follow signs for AP7 Cartagena.

· Join AP7 at slip road signposted for AP7 Cartagena (blue and white sign) and travel on AP7 for a short distance (to exit number 790)

· Leave AP7 at Exit 790 signposted for Torre Pacheco.

· Keep following signs for Torre Pacheco – you will pass a fuel station and what remains of the Polaris World Garden Centre on your left.

·At the roundabout – go straight on (F30 Torre Pacheco).

·To your right is the Mar Menor Golf Resort and to the left a red hotel.

· At the next roundabout, take the F14 turning, sign-posted for Murcia/Cartagena.

· Continue on the F14 and at next roundabout take the second right turn. (Note – the first sign on approach to the roundabout says A30 Murcia/Cartagena but the sign at the turn-off just says El Jimenado – don’t panic, this is the right road!)

· Follow the main F14 road through thevillage of El Jimenado.

· Shortly after you leave the village, you will see a tractor garage on the left and a tall white building on the right with a red and blue stripe and a chicken on the top!

· Shortly after what is a chicken factory, you will reach a major roundabout.

· Take the second exit, signposted RM2/A7 Alhama de Murcia and Andalucia.

· Travel on the RM2 for approximately 30 km.

· Look out for sign for RM23 Mazarron/MU603 El Palmar – take this exit.

· Go right round the roundabout to the last exit (3rd exit) which is signposted RM23 Mazarron.

· After a couple of miles or so take second exit off RM23 (exit number 7) signposted for Condado de Alhama.

· Go right round the roundabout, take fourth exit up the palm tree lined boulevard into Condado de Alhama.

· Go straight on at the roundabout with the large Condado De Alhama sign.

· Keep going straight on at the next roundabouts until you come to one where you will see the brown satellite development of La Isla on the left and the main Security Gate on the right.

The car hire companies operating from inside the arrivals hall are, more or less, operating a cartel. By which I mean it doesn't matter which one you use, you will be charged for petrol at a very high price. I don't believe it is even legal to charge for a full tank and not at least refund what is left in the tank. (If you are hiring for three days or less you may avoid this but I don't think many of us are coming just for two nights!)
I arrived today, and for the first time, I have used Costa Coches. You meet their rep outside the arrivals hall, you sign your contract and you are away in less than a minute after meeting him. Honestly, it was that easy. All the licence checks were done online before hand as was the payment which is taken two days before the rental starts. The car was waiting a few yards away for me. Tank half full, bring it back half full. They have fixed prices for the rental depending on the season.
When I come back in the summer hols I am using Greg from our resort. His contact details are on this forum. I suggest to anyone who needs to rent a car that you try either of these options and so avoid giving your euros to the rip off merchants in the arrivals hall.
