posting as a football enthusiast but with no particular players to promote i watched most of the england matches.
it seems to me that as lomg as over 60% of the top premier teams are foreign players our young players will have limited opportunities to progress in the numbers to develop
a good team
on backpassing it seems pointless to pass the ball back 30 yards just for the keeper to hoof it up the field. You might as well kick it from 30 yards nearer the goal you are hoping you might score in. saves putting your keeper in trouble and you might just put pressure on the oppoition defence. italy did a few times
whenever i see glimpses of training the players seem to be in a circle just passing to each other a few yards. they then repeat this in the matches. perhaps we should practise long passes to split a defence instead.
