Morning...

It's 7 1/2 years since this post was started for Jardin 9 owners. We are relatively new...bought two years ago and own J929.

Is there a group anywhere for Jardin 9 owners? I'd love to get to know our neighbours. I recognised Chris and Tracy last year from the previous year and we only know a handful of people from Jardin 9.

My friend from home owns on Jardin 8 and my sister is looking to buy after a stay with me last year, as is a friend of ours. I appreciate it's not the place you were promised if you bought off plan...BUT we absolutely love and cherish the place and intent to spend many, many years enjoying the sun, wine and wonderful community :)

Hi Ann (hamibabe),

I understand what you are saying. For us, we felt we had no choice. We have two dogs, for both we are their second owners. Our terrier suffers terribly from seperation anxiety at night and in fact was heading towards a nervous breakdown and had being receiving Bowen Therapy pre-departure to help balance his energies and hopefully calm him.

Of course we worried the stress of the journey could really upset him, as well as a change of routine, new surroundings etc. However, we sought advice as to how to make his journey more comfortable, we natural ways of keeping him calm (Rescue Remedy, vitamins). I am a stay at home Mum, so both our doggies are use to being around me A LOT.

For the above reasons and the fact we were coming over for FOUR weeks,  we felt leaving them was NOT an option and therefore decided to DRIVE to Spain in order that they could be with us the whole time and felt it would be the lesser of the two evils.

Of course we worried about the heat and had plans in place to make their lives more comfortable had it been a problem. It wasn't! We placed ice cubes in their water on and off all day and used chilled water from the fridge.

We walked them early every morning and late and night and the way they behaved we 'think' they had a lovely time. They were certainly happy and chilled out the whole time we were there.

When we come over for shorter periods, i.e a week, we will of course leave our lovable little doggies with my older children who  luckily still live at home but will be at work during the day and hope I can arrange other family members to pop in and check on them,

I hope that explains.

Debbie

xx

Dead easy. Go and see your vet and tell them you will need a dog passport. Price varies depending if vaccinations are up to date. Our dogs needed Vaccinations and then boosters a few weeks later. I think it was about hundredish pounds each or more. Sorry I can't be exact, but we paid each time we went and not in one lump sum. It wasn't quite as much as I thought it was going to be.

You also have to get a Tape worm tablet from the vets in Spain, maximum 5 days before you return back to England. We popped in the vets on Camposol and made an appointment. Think that was about 35 euros for both of them.

The passports are only checked on the return :)

We took our two dogs to Condado for the whole of August.

I was paraniod about them barking and although we went to the pool everyday, we left the patio doors open and kept regular checks back to the apartment to make sure they were ok. I think they were quiet and barely barked.

We walked them twice a day on that arid land and although it was fabulous for us, I too was disappointed with the amount of dog pooh. It was like walking over a mine field. Again I was super paranoid that people would think I was letting our dogs pooh without picking it up.

We left them for the afternoon a couple of times to go to the beach and I hope they were behaved. I wanted to ask the Spanish people upstairs if they had heard barking but they didn't speak English. (I am hoping to be fluent in Spanish by next year *cough).

Anyway we are on Jardin 9 and every single day two little dogs were locked in their apartment and barked ALL day. You could here them from the front and out the back when going to and from the car. I really felt sorry for anyone who lived anywhere near this apartment. It's very annoying besides not being fair on the dogs.
