Has anyone in Manzana 5 not received a tax bill yet? I am sure that usually around this time of year the bill appears in the letter box but there was nothing there.

We usually use Autoeurope for our car hire and we normally get told to go to one of the desks in the Airport, record,Alamo, etc. This time our sheet said Advantage at the Hertz Desk. It turns out that this company works from a couple of vans from the car park. I went ahead of my family to get the car hire sorted thinking it would be in the normal place but when I found out I had to go into the car park to no doubt queue again so I waited for them to come out with the cases. When we found the Advantage vans there was quite a big queue. We queued for over 90 mins. There was an even bigger queue at the Record desk which apparently disappeared quicker than ours. My advice is to pre check your invoice and if you see Advantage on it. If so get into the queue ASAP, direct the rest of the party to the car park level with Hertz on and be patient. The service itself is fine and the cars too.

If you know this already then apologies.  Tonight I found out that our gardens are irrigated by an electronic timer situated below the green cover.  You are able to program this using 3 separate timing functions.  I had to reset the clock for a neighbour and then set the on time and then the duration (this is P1).  The one thing I did not know was that the battery only lasts a few months and ours had run out at some point in the past.  The battery is a 9V (the small rectangular one) so have a look and see if yours is still working.  Just take out the controller and flip up the lid.

Being one of the unfortunate people here in the UK to have just been hit by the recession and currently looking for work I was wondering if there were any Engineers / Designers that have managed to find work in Spain either in their field or otherwise.

I have a property in San Cayetano, Murcia but with my skills I think that it would be difficult to find a position in Engineering in a more agricultural orientated region.  It would be a benefit if I could commute from here to a job rather than rent somewhere else in one of the larger cities like Madrid or Seville. My Spanish is reasonably good having just spent a year doing a GCSE at evening class.

If you have any experience or advice I would like to hear about it.

Many Thanks

Steve

We have just come back with having hired a car through carjet / goldcar for 2 weeks too.  Have not checked our statement but after reading your post I will do today.  Our car did not come completely clean there was some sand in the footwells and the drivers seat was stained with salt marks from wet trunks etc.  When we handed it back there was obviously more sand then there was but I did take the time to clear the boot as this was where we dumped all the beach gear.  I have always used goldcar and have never seen this before but will take a look at the smallprint.
