Hi all

We are going to be out from 21 to 29 September to buy furniture etc and have booked 3 nights at the Hotel Le Cumbre - what a bargain 35 euros per room per night including breakfast.  Hopefully after that we will have some kind of sleeping arrangements sorted.  Look forward to meeting everyone and may be exchanging keys and locks with someone.

On reading this thread and checking my statement from CAM bank I have just done a quick bit of research via Google and found this :

"How to open a bank account in Spain if you are non-resident: Go to the bank of your choice with your passport and, if possible, a standard non-resident certificate.

To obtain a certificate, go to your nearest Police station (Dirección General de la Policía) with your passport and a full photocopy of your passport and apply for a "certificado de no residencia". You will have to go and collect it about 10 days after applying.

These days more and more Spanish banks do not insist on non-residents giving them a certificate. Some even offer to apply for one on their client's behalf, which saves you from having to go to the Police Station yourself. They generally charge about 15 euros for this service. Banks are obliged to check that clients still have non-resident status every two years."

On another website it states that without the certficate the bank account is not operative and the bank cannot release any funds from the account without the certificate being in place.  The €2.43 is the IVA charge.

20 Jul 2008 12:00 AM:

I have just found this on the new Hacienda Riquelme Golf Resort website when surfing and drinking wine to cheer me up due to the miserable Sunday afternoon weather.  It is their subcommunity rules.

"- THE POOL OF THE COMMUNITY WILL BE CLOSED FOR SWIMMING FROM 9.00 P.M. TO 9.00 A.M.
- PARENTS ARE FULLY RESPONSIBLE FOR THE SAFETY AND SUPERVISION OF THEIR CHILDREN AT ALL TIMES.
- CHILDREN SHALL ONLY USE THE POOLS IN THE PRESENCE OF THE ADULTS WHO WILL ULTIMATELY BE RESPONSIBLE FOR THEIR SAFETY.
- NO BALL GAMES IN POOLS, GRASS OR PLANTED AREAS
- NO BICYCLES ON PLANTED AREAS OR GRASS.
- NO SUN BEDS OR CHAIRS ARE ALLOWED ON PATHWAYS
- NO AIR BEDS ARE ALLOWED ON THE SWIMMING POOL.
- NO JUMPING OR DIVING IN THE POOL
- WASHING LINES ON THE FACADES, BALCONIES AND RAILINGS ARE FORBIDDEN.
- PETS SHALL BE KEPT ON A LEASH AT ALL TIMES IN THE COMMUNITY AREAS. OWNERS SHOULD NOT ALLOW DOGS TO FOUL GRASS OR PATHWAYS.
- ALL RUBBISH TO BE DISPOSED OF IN THE APPROPIATE BINS. PLEASE DON´T THROW LITTER
- NOISE LEVELS TO BE KEPT DOWN"

Does anyone know if PW have any rules like this in place for our Jardines?

I know the washing line rule is in force in England as a covenant in the deeds in some posh suburbs where you are not permitted hang washing to dry on show in your own garden.  The pool hours seem rather limited as well especially for people who enjoy an early morning swim.

If you are transferring money using brokers (ie Currencies Direct) for your final payment please be aware that even when using a TT they will hold onto your money in their client account for a couple of days before tranferring it on.  I did a TT on Thursday and when I phoned Currencies Direct yesterday to confirm that the money had been received and transferred on was told that this would not happen until Monday or Tuesday next week.  We are not completing until 10 July so there is still plenty of time for it to clear in our Spanish solicitors client account so that they can raise a draft against it.  This could cause problems for anyone holding on until the last minute to see if the euro rate goes up before transferring the final payment.

Apart from this Currencies Direct are very good, easy to use and the traders will advise you on the euro rate.  I was told that if I could hold on for another month the rate is likely to go up but at the moment it is on its way down and was advised to buy sooner rather than later.
