We have jumped ship too! We decided to cut our losses and are not holding our breath about getting but the deposit back, but feel it's the best thing to do in the long run.

Hi everyone,
We have just returned from a disappointing trip to Garrucha. Unfortunately there was no work happening on site despite visiting every day for a week. No-one seemed to have any anwers as to why this was the case. The surrounding area has also deteriorated a lot with graffiti giving it a general run down look. We have come back to reconsider whether we pull out or not as it would not be possible to complete the build from this stage in less than a year.
On a more positive note resale property in the area seems to be slowing down in price and this may be the route we take now.

Hi,
We have just returned from Garrucha and went to see the builder yesterday. As we know he has the licence but is still waiting for the go-ahead from the Mayor to resume work. He has not been granted planning permission for the other two blocks he hoped to build on either side of ours and has now sold that land. He assures us that he should have the document needed from the Mayor within the next week or so and estimates completion September next year. We have also been given the name and email address of a contact in the builders office, so if anyone would like this info I will post it.

To date we have only paid holding deposit of one thousand euros, and should pay the first stage payment when the build begins. Thankfully money has been in our bank and not theirs for almost two years! It is possible that we don't all have the same terms for payment.

Hi,
We are going to Garrucha on the 19th and will report back after we return on the 22nd. Our solictor has informed us that the builder should be requesting a payment by the end of the month - so lets hope!! Going to try to talk to Mar y Casas directly for estimated completion date.
