Hello all. My wife and I have just stumbled accross this webiste this evening.
We too are one of the poor clients who agreed to purchase a property in La Atalaya. We paid an initial booking deposit of 3,000 Euro in March 2006, and signed the contract. A further 30% of the purchase price was requested and this was paid in May 2006. We bought through agents who we found on the internet. Contracts were signed in Mar y Casas offices at the roundabout between Vera and Garrucha.
At this point we are extremely disillussioned with the continual delay and endless excuses. Mar y Casas are completely useless and provide absolutely no info. Our agents do keep us updated every 2 / 3 months, but like the rest of you, the updates refer to additional licenses required, issues with foundations etc. etc. etc.
We did push for a bank guarantee in 2006, and did receive one for 41,000 Euro. We have paid almost 45,000 Euro, but feel at this point that we should just jump ship and take whatever we can get.
Do you think we will need to hire a solicitor to obtain a refund of the monies guaranteed ?
John
