Hi Chris,

There are a few shops in Vejer for furnishings but I would say you should also check out Chiclana and San Fernando.  If you take the main A48/E5 motorway from Vejer and come off at junction 3 by the Eroski supermarket it immediately starts with the large furniture store called Barlac and then all along that road on the left there are lots of others.  Our particular favourite is the next one just past the roundabout which is called Casa del Mimbre - they also have an "Opportunidad"/discount store at Vejer which is on the E5 just after the motorway ends on the left side as you go towards Tarifa etc.  Back in Chiclana, if you continue along the "Barlac" road you eventually come to a bigger roundabout with Shell and BP petrol stations.  Take the road to the right and there is probably every conceivable shop you will probably need for your house - beds, lighting, furniture, diy etc.

If you stay on the A48 towards Cadiz you will come to the large Leroy Merlin (B&Q) which has garden furniture and a good lighting selection and next door is Media Markt which is a massive electrical store.  The large hipermercados (Eroski, and Carrefour which is a bit further on from Leroy in the Bahia Sur shopping complex) are good for bedding and have a reasonable selection of electrical tems too.

For larger items the stores in Chiclana are usually very accommodating about delivery and have large stocks immediately available whereas the supermarkets sometimes take a while for items to come in which is not so good if you are on a fairly short visit.    Also it pays to hire a large vehicle with flexible seatings arrangements to get as much as possible in the back.

Good luck.

Mike

Moneycorp don't ask for a deposit up front and everything just starts with a single payment.  They are also very flexible on the amount of months you choose if you wish to lock into a set rate.  Even though they charge a fee per month I found their exchange rate was far higher than others who offered fixed rates.

Hi Mark,

We have had lots of co-operation from local companies and have found they will normally deliver within 2-3 days if the product is in stock and some have even offered us the same day .  Supermarkets, Leroy Merlin etc seem to have a 2-3 week timescale unless you get flatpack so Chiclana is definitely the best area to head for.  There are a number of shops on the A390 as you turn off past Eroski and then even more on Avenida de los Descubrimientos which is the road on the right as you get to the roundabout and the Shell and BP garages.

However we also find a good-sized hire car to Ikea is not a problem!

Hi Leeabby,

I'm sending 700e per month at 1.4290 but that should have improved a bit since then.
